So happy to see heartbeat at six weeks but sonographer not given heart rate?

Hi everyone,

I was relieved to see a heartbeat today on six week scan after previous mc (although know we're not out of the woods yet)

The sonographer said everything looked textbook and the print out says "fetal heart activity seen", but I wasn't told or given the heart rate which it seems others have been. I thought sonographer said she'd check on computer but the nurse said that they don't really do that

Do some EPUs just not do this/not able to on their machines or is it something (new!) to worry about?

They said all looked great (touch wood) and they were discharging me from EPU to GP

Any thoughts welcomed! Smile

Thanks

I was never told the foetal heart rate at early scans. Always just said it had been detected.

Congratulations!

I wasn't told it at my 7 week scan, the sonographer just pointed out the flickering on the screen.

I also have never been told the heart rate at any scans (including 7/8 weeks) only ever by the midwives using dopplers!!

Ecureuil · 01/08/2017 21:19

I had a scan at 7 weeks with both mine and wasn't given the heart rate.

thingymaboob · 01/08/2017 22:38

They don't tell you at early scan

Floggingmolly · 01/08/2017 22:40

Why do you need to know the heart rate? Is it significant?

RebornSlippy · 01/08/2017 22:43

If the sonographer told you all was good, all was good. It's not normally given at EPU appointments. This will come as your prengancy progresses at your antenatal appointments. In fact, the midwife may not even say it to you, rather just assure you it's within the normal range and record in your notes. If it's something you want to know specifically, make sure to ask.

Now try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy! Congratulations.

I had scans at the EPU at 6 and 9 weeks due to bleeds, saw a lovely heartbeat each time and was told everything looked good but wasn't given a heart rate until 12 weeks. Just checked the reports and mine say the same as yours 'fetal heart activity seen', I'm now 22 weeks and all looking good.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I'm now 21wks, had 7 scans and MW has listened to heartbeat with doppler, and I've never been given the heart rate.

39 weeks pregnant & never been given heart rate at any scans or appointments
