What's the likelihood of a 9lb second baby after a 6lb first baby

Hi there. Just had a growth scan for second baby at 30 weeks (complicated pregnancy so expecting lots in the next few weeks- they're worried about the medication I am now on causing low birth weight)
I'm just on the 50th percentile which means a prediction of an 8.8lb baby which seems huge given my first was 6lb 4. Me and dh both short.
Delivering by section anyway so irrelevant in many respects but interested from the perspective of how much we need to top up our stocks of tiny baby stuff which my dad lived in for a good while. I've heard second babies tend to be bigger- but this seems a lot! Can anyone share experiences?

I had this the opposite way round, a huge first baby and a tiny second baby! They thought there might be an issue with her as it was so different to my first but she is just very short and he is very tall! Not obvious reason for either, as DH and I are both about average.

1st was 6lb 9oz, 2nd 8lb 10oz, 3rd 9lb 10oz 4th 8lb 7ozs so yes it is possible!
One thing I will say is that growth scans have been hugely inaccurate on all 4 of my pregnancies. I was told first would be a big baby 9lb +Confused 2nd they gave estimated weight of 7lb 8oz not too far out 3rd I was told would be under 7lb Confused and 4th they said would be big around 10lb!
As long as baby is growing well and doesn't have any problems like a huge belly or lots of waters things should be fine!

well my first was 8lb 2oz. My second was 10lb 3oz. Both full term. So it does happen! DS2 didn't fit the newborn stuff, but DS1 did :)

Interesting! Didn't think it would fluctuate that much. Won't go mad on the small sleep suits then!
Thanks everyone

DD1 was 6lb, DD2 7lb 15oz, DS 8lb 8oz (and then 14lb 3oz by 6 weeks!)

First 5lb 4 full term. Second 8lb 5 2 weeks late
