Yeah, normal in this part of the uk. They just talked through things like what support would be available after baby has arrived, got a few details from us, things like that. Can't really remember much about it, but it is standard for them to visit a few weeks before our due date.

Yeah it's the norm! I received my letter for my HV to visit but the day before she was due to come I went into labour! But this time round she's told me she will come earlier just in case!! (I actually work in the building next to her office she regularly pops into my work place to see me) they just have a chat to see how everything is going and to get to know you a bit before all the "chaos" happens!

Yes in fact they should offer, you should have an antenatal visit, a visit at about ten days, six weeks ish, a year and two years.
It's to meet you and you her, talk about plans for after the birth, feeding etc.

How strange, i got a letter today too! Although mine is a group meet and great nearby.

I initially wanted to decline my visit as I felt like they were coming to snoop and check up on me! I'm glad I didn't tho, she was lovely and told me about loads of baby groups in the area and other info that I wouldn't have had a clue about if she hadn't come!

It's nice to know you have that additional support there as you'll be discharged from the community midwifes quite quickly after your home with baby. I was on the phone to my HV at least once a week asking all kinds of questions.

They don't check/snoop round your house either!

I didn't have this with my first two but it's just been introduced now I'm pregnant with my third. I'm hoping I can decline it as I don't think they'd be able to tell me anything I don't already know and I haven't found them at all useful (given very bad advice in the past). Can see why it would be good for your first though before it all starts!

Normal here too.

Although they seem to leave it till the last minute here. I missed mine as their planned pre-birth visits all turned out to be after DC was born.

I declined mine because I was still working and they had no problem with that.
