Possible chemical pregnancy but strong BFP?

Hi I'm new to Mumsnet so not sure of the lingo yet - sorry!

This is my first cycle since stopping the mini pill. Last Sunday night, I started to bleed (lightly). I thought it may have been implantation, so (very impatiently/optimistically) I took a test. Of course it was negative!

The bleeding then got a little heavier and there was also cramping, just like a period. The blood started off pinky/brownish then became red. There were not clots etc.

I just assumed that this was my period - no biggy. I stopped bleeding 2/3 days ago (so I bled Sunday night - Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

I did an ovulation test today (so I could start to see the progression), clearly expecting it to be negative but got a strong positive! I can't be ovulating, so I did a pregnancy test to rule it out - and got a very strong positive again!

I'm so confused. If it was a chemical pregnancy, how come I got a BFN just before, and now have a strong BFP?

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

I'd wait a few days more and test again just to be sure.
