Sorry for the grim post but since around 12 week my nipple piercing which I've had for two years started to smell bad 😷 I don't think it's infected as there's no pain or redness, there's a clearish fluid (that stinks) that comes out and dries and crustal around the barbell with a yellowish tint and if I touch it to clean it leaves the worst smell on my finger. I clean it everyday and each time it stinks! I can smell it through low cut tops if I lean or anything. I really want to take it out now as I would like to try breastfeeding but if I take it out will the smell still stay? I'm worried the smell could be trapped inside. Is it breastmilk that is making this awful smell? My other unpierced nip doesn't smell but I am starting to produce milk which is drying and leaving flakes on my nipples lol. Rather grim post but I don't know what to do 😫

Hmm I've had this with my ear piercing and it was a bit infected. It cleared up on its own though. Why don't you ring the doc or midwife and ask their advice?

Quite likely you are producing colostrum now yes and this is yellowish in colour.

It shouldn't smell but then I guess if it's getting caught on your peircing then it would smell over time.

I know what you mean though... it smells like a badgers arsehole 🤢

Mrs.. it is like death! I also had a smelly earring too a while ago which got took out! I just don't understand why it started at around 12 weeks I just want to take the thing out but so worried it will heal and I'll be left with a stinky nip inside 😫Arrr. And LJ do you think it could be even though I have just noticed it coming from the normal holes at 27 weeks instead of piercing holes at 12 weeks? I have no idea what has caused it, it has a slight metal smell to it but it's also like sick my god :(

I took my nipples piercing out a couple of years ago and still get the cheese build up. Disgusting. Also get it from ear piercings. I just clean regularly as I don't want to go around smelling g of a watsit.
Book.

I don't know if it's normal or not but I defo think you should get it looked at! You don't want it to get worse especially if you're planning on breastfeeding!

Kicker764 · 28/07/2017 18:30

It needs to go! Did yours smell whilst they were in and crust lol? Do you think I would be ok to take it out and would this at least calm the stink because I can't cope 😭

I'll definitely mention it, I've forgot previously during midwife appointments, not sure wether I should ask her at my next in a week or see the doctor Monday?

I'd say it's colostrum which is then hanging around on piercing and going stale, colostrum/milk -> sicky smell if left out to air!

Whisky2014 · 28/07/2017 19:16

I think its general piercing cheese. I don't remember it crusting but.always had the cheese stuff. Gads.
People with their belly button pierced have it really bad!
