Hi all ,
Am 26+5 days pregnant and monitoring movements is making me feel so stressed . The truth is there isnt really a pattern that i have noticed . Some days he will move a lot other days not as much i just dont know when to worry ?
I did call the maternity ward once and they told me to have a drink and lay down and the he started to move a lot.
I just dont know when to get worried and what is normal is really getting me down

26+5 here too. No advice I'm afraid but mine is the same.
Sometimes I think I haven't felt him move for a while and sit or lie down and talk to him and wait for him to move.
Other times I have to lie down because it feels like he's gonna scrabble right out.
The only consistent pattern is that if he's moving and someone tries to feel or film it he stops!
This is my 4th so I probably should know better, but I know in the past they've always said better safe than sorry so if you're ever worried give them a ring.
Hope you're ok

Wait I might be 26+4. My memory is terrible

Isn't it from 28 weeks that there should be a pattern?

krakentoast · 28/07/2017 18:16

I'm 30 weeks and I haven't noticed a pattern. Some days the baby seems to move more than other days. I have mentioned this to midwives and they say "oh well as long as you're getting plenty of movement", which I am, the baby just doesn't seem to like following a schedule! It seems like a very inexact science.

Obviously the usual caveats apply though eg if you haven't felt baby move for a while and YOU are worried then get it checked out straight away at the labour ward

23 weeks and mine loves a midnight party, the rest of the time pretty random unless I sit leaning forward when I get kicked to death.

This one already appears MORE spirited than their already spirited sibling!

I'm 25 weeks exactly and two weeks ago my midwife told me that before about 27 weeks I may not notice a pattern because the baby could be in a position where it's moving but hard to feel. At the time, she told me that as long as I felt it move each day, not to worry to much about its pattern yet.

GirlcalledJames · 28/07/2017 19:13

Yes, you are supposed to look for a pattern from 28 weeks.

Kittysparks1 · 28/07/2017 19:40

For what it's worth I'm now 35 weeks gone and still don't have a pattern. I gave up trying to kick count etc. If it gets to the end of the day and I've not felt it move that's when I'll panic. First time ma so not entirely sure what's normal or not but just going with the flow.
Remember if you are concerned, call your midwife.

I'm also 35 weeks and don't have any pattern. However, I still managed to recognise when something wasn't right, just by learning what things I can do that gets the baby moving, e.g. prodding the bump, having a bath, etc - and also being familiar with what the movements felt like.

There are days when my baby moves very little, but doing the things I mentioned gets her active. Earlier this week, they stopped working. She would respond to a prod, but instead of it sparking more activity, she'd go still again. And the movements I did get were weaker than normal. I called the day assessment, as advised, and was brought in for monitoring and eventually a scan. It turned out that everything was fine - she'd just moved to a different position, where I could feel less. But the point is, I was able to pick up on the change, despite baby not having a movement pattern.
