Cervix Tightly Shut

So I thought my waters broke yesterday with a little trickle, when I went to the MAU they assessed me (ouch!) and said my cervix was completely closed, not dilated whatsoever so they believed that I'd probably had a bit of wee leak Blush although it didn't smell like it. MW made DH look for good measure (thanks MW!) and he confirmed it was closed tight like one of those eggs from Alien before they burst open Grin

My question is, if it's tightly shut now and I've got an induction booked for next week, it's going to take a while isn't it? Has anyone got any experience of this? I wanted to go for the little teabag like pessary and it's written in my birth plan in my notes but don't know what method they'll use.

As far as I understand it the pessary is the appropriate method for "ripening" the cervix in advance of them breaking your waters. If your waters had already gone or your cervix was already opening but without regular contractions, second to breaking your waters they would put you on the syntocinon drip instead.

If things stay as they are I imagine you'll have the pessary followed by waters being broken if no contractions happen, then the drip if you're still not in labour. I know a lot of people get going with just the pessary though!

I had an induction after my waters had already gone so went straight to the drip. Hope that helps!

Sorry, I can't help with this as I've never given birth. However, I have to ask....is it normal for a MW to ask a DP to look at your cervix?!

Hope everything goes well with the birth!

BrunoMartelli I don't really know, she was lovely but some MW are no nonsense and assume they have or will see it all. I was just mortified enough as it was and the device was quite uncomfortable then she asked my DH to look up my fanjo!

Thanks RatRolyPoly, that makes sense. If my cervix is the same it sounds like it may be a couple of days then.
