Good maternity jeans

I'm only 11 weeks but my size 6 jeans don't button up anymore...the time has come to invest in some maternity jeans!! Can any ladies recommend where is best to try for good fitting maternity jeans that are comfy? Preferably the ones that go under the bump.

I'm only 11 weeks too and my jeans are uncomfortable though im normally a 14.

I've been looking as Asda and New look ones. I've heard people mention them on this site and my friends and reasonably priced too.

Howaboutanotherusername · 26/07/2017 15:59

h&m ones are brilliant

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 16:01

Seraphine do good ones but you might find it is just bloat at the moment and you'll go down so you can fit in your normal jeans for a while longer.

BentleyBelly · 26/07/2017 16:10

H&M skinny over bump, the ones with belt loops not the jeggings style ones.

boopdoop · 26/07/2017 18:05

H&M and New Look are both pretty good for maternity jeans.

Get a belly band, with mine I was able to keep wearing pre pregnancy jeans until the last couple of months. An elastic band through the button hole and looped over the button will give you an extra inch or two for now. I liked the top shop maternity jeans

Zampa · 26/07/2017 19:15

I hated my Seraphine maternity jeans. Love my H&M ones, especially as they have belt loops to keep them up in the earlier stages.

(Was the size 6 jeans comment a stealth boast? Because it wasn't very ... stealthy!).

fruityb · 26/07/2017 19:42

I got a great pair from Next that were adjustable - in blue then another pair in black. They had a long band that came over. I didn't have a bump as such as that stage but felt very uncomfortable with stuff across my tummy.

I got a good pair from New Look but they only stayed up with a big bump. Once summer kicked in it was leggings and tunics. I wasn't trendy but man I was comfy.

WinterRose92 · 26/07/2017 19:56

Red herring from debenhams are lovely and also Matalan.

PhilippeFlop · 26/07/2017 20:10

I was given some topshop maternity jeans from a friend that served her through two pregnancies, were my staple throughout my two pregnancies and are still going strong for my friend!

Topsyloulou · 26/07/2017 21:25

I loved my Topshop Leigh maternity jeans last time round. They were under the bump. This time I'm finding them not as comfortable and love my H&M over the bump skinny jeans instead. Under the bump will probably get comfier as I go along.

I would agree with what a pp said, it could well be bloat and go back down again. I had to go into mat jeans at 8 weeks but was back out of them again at 12 weeks as the bloat had gone down.

EyeDrops · 26/07/2017 21:41

Another vote for H&M, they were soooo comfy.

I also used the Topshop bump bands over my usual (undone) jeans for several months which worked well too.

TLH0307 · 27/07/2017 08:56

Thank you everyone, I haven't had time to get down to shops and try any on so I've been looking online but don't know which ones to trust! I will try all the ones suggested.

zampa Nope, I don't see how it's boasting. I'd much rather be a bigger size, but it's just how I'm built, I tried to put weight on for health reasons but can't. I also think that some shops make jeans which fit better for curvy ladies, and some make jeans that fit better for smaller ladies, hence stating my size.

That's the only think I don't like about mumsnet, I see some women commenting on here and I just think "there is no way you would be so rude face to face". MNHQ have had to delete a comment on this thread! Appalling. Can people not just learn that it's nice to be nice, and if it's not kind, helpful, or appropriate - don't type it?? Just remember you have no idea what a person is going through/has been through. I only asked for recommendations about maternity jeans! Angry

OP, I feel your pain. I'm also quite petite and naturally a 6/8 and agree that most jeans aren't built for small ladies.

I found topshop jeans great - I got a pair of Joni (leg length 30 so too long but tuck in ok!) and they're flattering as I usually get my jeans there. Do check ASOS too - I tried them and they just weren't skinny enough but fit comfortably.

I'm 21w now but couldn't do my jeans up from 9w really - I think with a smaller build there's less room for baby to hide!

willymcwill · 27/07/2017 11:28

I definitely recommend Seraphine; I am usually a size 8 so had the under bump for early pregnancy, and then I get a massive bump so over bump are so much comfortable!

TLH0307 · 27/07/2017 13:31

tuxedocat Thank you! I will try those ones, I do want ones that are comfy round my bump but still nice fitting on my sparrow legs. Yeah I also found that from about 9 weeks my jeans were a struggle haha!x

willymcwill I've heard lots of recommendations for Seraphine so will try there, I'd never heard of them before pregnancy. Thank you!!x

Completely get you - most of the ones I tried would stick out on my thighs and look weird! I've seen belly bands but not sure how comfortable they would be. Amazon have some and new extenders (total godsend!)

Good luck, I did find in store topsho better (south west) than the stock online too. I would live in them they're so comfy (like joggers but more respectable to be out in!)

Spam88 · 28/07/2017 12:07

Another vote for H&M (if you haven't bought jeans there before, beware their tiny sizes). I'd go over bump though.

Tigger001 · 28/07/2017 13:29

I would recommend h&m jeans .. I found them really comfy and great value for money. I bought 5 pairs when I was about 16 weeks (normally size 8 but bought the size 10 in different styles and colours) these were over the bump ones so possibly not quite what you are looking for, but thought I would recommend non the less just in case. They have lasted me all the way through, I am now 38 + 2 and they still fit fine (although physically getting them on at this stage is a different story lol).
I also agree with the comment about people on here not being very nice to each other..surely this should be somewhere people can go for help and support if needed..not jealous and bitchy comments.

tootsieglitterballs · 28/07/2017 13:38

H&M ones are the best I've found.

Don't bother with jojo ones - my personal experience was they just didn't fit around the crotch area correctly! Perfect length, bump covering, waist size etc, but the crotch area was just too short!

Good luck!

Babykoala1 · 28/07/2017 13:52

Topshop maternity Joni's were my absolute favourite under the bump jeans. Sooo comfy and flattering

TLH0307 · 28/07/2017 17:56

Thank you everyone! Off to the Trafford centre tomorrow so will have a look at H&M and topshop and Next. Fingers crossed I find a decent and comfy pair that'll see me throughout the next few months!xx

Another thumbs up for seraphine. I'm same size, (or was.. 32weeks along now..) and found them the most comfy and well fitting. I did buy bands and used my normal jeans until week 18 and then switched to over the bump jeans. I found going to shops trying to find maternity wear incredibly depressing..but everything I ordered online from Seraphine has always been spot on, but is pricey!

boatrace30 · 29/07/2017 08:34

Don't get Next, the ones I had were awful - weak elastic which soon broke.
I found jojo Maman Bebe to be the best
