Sickness from acid reflux

Hi all

Just wanted to ask for some advice from you all. I'm currently 31 weeks and suffering with awful acid reflux to the point where I'm vomiting at least every other day. Sad

I've been taking Gaviscon (the chewable tablets) but are there any other methods I can try, or is the liquid better? I've done the usual not eating specific foods or at certain times.

It's making me rather miserable.

Have you been to the doctor? I really suffered with this in my last pregnancy and the liquid gaviscon prescribed by the doc seemed to be more heavy duty than over the counter stuff. If you haven't been to your GP yet it might be worth a visit. Hope you get some help. It's a really horrible thing when you're heavily pregnant.

Go to your GP. Reflux made me so miserable to the point I cried every time I got ill.

He prescribed gaviscon at first but it made me sick, so I went back and he prescribed me omeprazole which made a difference in about 2 tablets.

There is also ranitidine which is just as effective.

Don't suffer in silence!

omeprazole has saved my life and my voice. Go see your doc and et a prescription. Gaviscon just tries to treat the symptoms. omeprazole stops the production of excess stomach acid thereby solving the problem. Life changer.

I've always taken omeprazole during pregnancy and it has worked like magic to get rid of acid reflux.

Thanks all. Had no idea there were other medications available.

Am seeing my midwife at the surgery tomorrow so will book an appointment whilst I'm there to see my gp.

I've had this and was able to get pills from the doctor to help. But sleeping upright really does help and trying to work out what's creating your acid reflux to because you might not think about it can be really specific! ( for me it turned out it was tomato sauce on pasta and Pizzas, so I could eat pasta with pesto but not that) xxx

As above, you need omaprazole from your GP. I've been exactly the same, and omaprazole has been brilliant
