Do second babies come earlier?

To all the STM, did you find your 2nd child came earlier? My first I had to be induced at 41+5 and it was awful!
I'm 36 weeks tomorrow with DS2 and I've been having some period type cramps, a lot of discharge ( sorry TMI) and the horrible cervix pain occasionally. Obviously I want my baby to be fully cooked and healthy, but I wouldn't mind if he came a little earlier, and I do not want to be induced again! Any experiences?

Not earlier, but faster!

First came at 38 weeks, 7 hrs
Second at 40+5, 1hr 45
Third at 40 weeks. 45 minutes

My first came the day before her due date and second is still baking away at 39+2 (booked in for c section tomorrow) like you I've woke up with a lot of discharge today which worried me! I've been having this from about 34 weeks to the point I thought I was in labour!! I would try not to worry too much your body could just be getting prepared! I have heard that second comes sooner but I guess everyone is different! Good luck x

Not for me, but I agree the labours are quicker!

1st 38+3 -8 hours
2nd 39+3 -2 hours
3rd 41+6 -45 minutes

No mine were 10 days and then 13 days late.

You can refuse induction and request monitoring instead you know. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies :) my first birth was pretty short...5 1/2 hrs and 25 mins pushing. But it was so painful. Th midwife has prepared me for an even quicker labour, but she said it could be very hard and fast. Scares me a little! He was also measuring 2.4kg on 32 week scan. I suppose we are all that point of 'love you but please vacate ASAP!!'

Not in my experience, nor was my labour quicker (but DC2 had his shoulder stuck for a long time, was lucky he didn't have shoulder dystocia). Labour with DC2 stalled multiple times, whereas it was textbook with DC1.

DC1 was 41+2 and a 10 hour labour from first contraction to baby.

DC2 was 41+4 and a 28 hour labour from first contraction to baby.
