Hi all I am just coming up to 18 weeks pregnant and have had some very light pink discharge tonight and I'm really worried. I had bleeding at 6 weeks and had an early miscarriage last year. I don't know if it is normal or if I should go and get checked? Have any of you had this?

Bleeding in pregnancy isn't normal, but it is common.

Call the maternity assessment unit at your hospital. They are open 24/7 and they usually see ladies 14 weeks +. They'll be able to advise you how best to deal with it.

I'm 19 weeks and have had spotting off and on throughout this pregnancy. I had a small amount of red blood and a small clot on Thursday. The maternity triage were brilliant and I saw a consultant who scanned me.

The baby is fine but they were concerned about placenta previa (I've had 3 c-sections). As I'm flying next week I booked a private scan - the outcome is that it is unexplained - no previa and no sign of blood in the uterus. He checked my cervix and it's not that either. It's horrendous finding blood though and I totally empathise. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to reassure you that you aren't alone and that it's not always a disaster. Maybe contact your maternity triage?

I bled constantly from 8-39 weeks when he finally arrived. The doctor told me unless bright red period blood, it's common for the cervix to bleed - I think it's called an erosion or something (my sons 12 weeks old so I've forgotten now). Get checked but don't panic x

Thankyou for your replies I'm going to give them a call. The blood has stopped but I'm still worried about it. I don't have any other kids and my last pregnancy ended in miscarriage so I have no idea what is normal.
