Sudden onset of a UTI

Hello all!

I had my 16 week check with the midwife yesterday and she tested my urine sample and said it was showing up with possible signs of an infection. I was totally oblivious to any infection at at this point, she sent the sample to the lab to be tested.

Now today I am experiencing some of the early signs of a UTI. Weeing hurts and its difficult. Should I wait to hear back from the lab results / call the midwife or just see my GP for antibiotics?

Bit worried and want to get rid of this asap!

See your GP, earlier it's caught the better. I had a UTI at 20 weeks that didn't start showing symptoms until the infection had ascended to my kidneys and I had to be admitted to hospital as UTIs can cause complications like PROM. Luckily mine shifted with some antibiotics but it's important it's treated Flowers

See your GP or out of hours since it's over the weekend - don't wait it will just get worse.

Until you can get to a DR you might want to try paracetamol, a hot water bottle and those cystitis sachets or bicarbonate in a glass of squash as that does the same as the sachets - it neutralises the ph of your urine. But these are just to ease the pain a bit, please see a doctor urgently!

Thank you both Flowers

I'm going to go to the drop in centre tomorrow morning as my GP is not open on Sundays Hmm
