Hey guys I really need some advice, I have had my mirena coil fitted for 15 months now and I am currently about 5-8 days late (my periods alter very slightly each month) below are two HPT top one from Tuesday and bottom one from today.

Are these positive!? I'm so confused I have a doc appointment tomorrow but I really need some advice as I am concerned I may loose the baby if I am with this coil fitted!
Me and my partner had very recently decided to start trying again from October, I was to get my coil out in august! But am I too late!? 🙈 I am so confused please help guys.

Please help! Mirena fitted

I can't tell if the tests are positive, my eyes are very bad, but I have heard of successful pregnancies which began with a coil. Also I would try and relax until tomorrow when you see the doctor.
I previously had the mirena and it stopped my periods altogether for over 3 years so it might be this which is making your period "late".
FYI am now 16 weeks pregnant about 6 months after having it removed so caused no fertility issues for me. :-)

They look like they could be positive. With a coil you are at risk of ectopic pregnancy and need to see your doctor.

Thank you that makes me feel slightly better, I am waiting on a call back from doctor about lunchtime so hopefully I'll understand everything a little better by then x

Yes I'm aware of the eptopic that's what is really concerning me... I guess I wouldn't know until I have a scan ? X

I fell pregnant with the Mireya coil in! Or so I thought, it had actually expelled itself without me knowing. Apparently it happens quite often!

GP should check if it's in place still or if it's fallen out!

Justwaitingforaline · 20/07/2017 09:33

Also, I was told that they are unlikely to remove the coil if it is still in place as it can pose a risk

Ruhrpott · 20/07/2017 09:35

My periods stopped completely with the mirena coil in which I think is quite normal so your not necessarily pregnant.

Ruhrpott · 20/07/2017 09:36

And the tests look pretty negative to me

user1500536955 · 20/07/2017 09:38

Oh wow really!?!! See at the beginning I had a lot of issues with it, loads of pain and periods were all over the place, I actually never made the appointment to have it checked up on like an idiot!!! I mean if I am pregnant of course I will be over the moon but I'm just cautious as I don't know if everything will be ok... I tried for 18 months to conceive my 2nd, it's always been planned so to be this side of everything is a little nerve wrecking x

I've had the coil in for almost 16 months, they haven't really changed from the ones I had before is was fitted if I'm honest, and you think they look negative? See this is why I'm confused as I can see lines on both ... x

You can attempt to find the threads yourself, they "should" be obvious but tbh I would wait and talk to the Dr tomorrow. Or try a digital test if you really want to as that spells it out in black and white for you. I know it's hard but try not to panic :-)

user1500536955 · 20/07/2017 09:44

Thank you Hun that helps, I'll see what my doctor says and let you guys know the outcome x

Noscrubs · 20/07/2017 10:39

I think those tests look negative...the lines are horizontal? Although the top test looks to have a very faint vertical line...sorry I'm no help. Hope everything is ok.

PhilippeFlop · 20/07/2017 11:08

They look positive to me

scaevola · 20/07/2017 11:30

The decision to remove a coil during pregnancy is made on a case-by-case risk assessment. I think you'll need an early scan to establish the location of the pregnancy and to see if it would be possible to remove the coil without disturbing it.

Better out than in, but sometimes too risky to attempt.

ScotsLamb · 20/07/2017 11:43

They look positive to me!
I know of a couple of people who have become pregnant with Mirena coil in. Good luck with the doctor and hopefully it's the news you want to hear.

user1500536955 · 20/07/2017 11:49

Thanks guys I just want to get to the bottom of this ! It great having others opinions and points of view on this though I must admit x

Doctor has just confirmed mirena still in tact and not pregnant guys x

Mooey89 · 20/07/2017 15:57

That's so weird! Those tests do look positive!

user1500536955 · 20/07/2017 16:10

I know but I feel like going crazy and it's costing me a bomb! lol I've got a morning sample I need to do just to be doubly sure but as far as she saw from her test I am not pregnant x

calimommy · 21/07/2017 04:54

I thought they looked positive. I'd get a FRER and test with FMU to be sure. Red dye always works earlier for me.

user1500536955 · 21/07/2017 08:39

Still no af , but I had a lot of cramping yesterday so must be on its way, I'm getting the mirena out asap as we wanted to start trying anyway and this was definitely an eye opener!
