Sharp shooting pains "down there"

Hi all,

As the title says, I've suddenly developed really quite strong sharp shooting pains in my cervix and the "down there" area and its quite painful! Blush

Just had a growth scan earlier today and baby, cord, placenta and me are all fine and baby is still moving; I'm 38+2 with my first. I had similar pains to these much earlier in my pregnancy which were caused by the baby kicking/hitting the cervix and/or a nerve, but these pains are much stronger and she's fully engaged and head down.

Been having braxton hicks frequently and that feeling of pressure when I walk, but the braxton hicks are not regular so not contractions from what I can tell.

A quick scan on the internet says that this could be the cervix opening or softening to just nerve pain; has anyone had this before? Anyone been told what it is and whether it is to do with your cervix softening?

Xx

I'm 10 weeks 2 days and I've just started getting these type of pains. Is it too early for me to be having these?

Omg fanny daggers !! I'm 28 weeks and was in a taxi the other day nearly made me driver crash I shouted fuckkkkkk so loudly! He thought I was going into labour! My lord did he laugh when I said no I'm fine thanks just fanny daggers !

MotherofKitties · 20/07/2017 16:40

Haha thanks for the responses, these have made me laugh quite a lot (which hasnt helped the pain)! That's a relief to know, they're really quit painful but at least they're short lived!

And PP, it's normal to get short sharp pains at 10+ weeks, it likely either round ligament pain or baby touching a nerve Smile

OP I could have written your post myself (36 weeks with DC2 here) - baby has only very recently turned head down and I am definitely feeling it! I tell DH it is like being stabbed with a big knitting needle down there, and there's loads of pressure if I'm on my feet for too long - I am definitely starting to waddle more than walk! Smile

Hahaha 'fanny daggers' !!! That's hilarious and totally what they feel like. Yea....I'm getting this too. It's awful! I think it's baby's head banging on the cervix or something??

Oh jeez. Fanny daggers? That's a thing?? I'm 30 weeks and haven't yet experienced anything like that yet.

Can't wait.... 😉😩😧
