To lay on your back, reveal your belly, get jellied up and have them rub a device over that will hopefully pick up an image of your baby, and the flicker of its heartbeat on the screen! If they can't they may suggest an internal scan which involves you putting on a gown and them using a wand type tool to fish around inside for the image/heartbeat on the screen! I got to keep an image of mine too, and that's about it, and they may change how far along you think you are by measurements x

Thank you i have seen a few posts about the internal scan i hope i dont have that. I assume i have to drink a lot of water before the scan? Water makes me feel sick atm so iam drinking orange juice.Iv had period like pains for the last week and 2days of discharge so iam a little worried. My doctor wasnt sure but thinks iam 8weeks. Thanks for the reply iam new to all this and iam a little worried x

Yes make sure you drink a lot if you aren't keen on internal. Although it's not as bad as you think, and if you get the clearer results they're looking for its worth it, just wear a flowy skirt or dress and they see nothing anyway. Doesn't feel too uncomfortable. I think half the reason I had internal ones was because my bladder wasn't full enough so yes lots of orange juice. I had a few pains and bleeds too, and everything was ok, I'm 15+4 with twins. I hope everything is okay for you too x

You do need a full bladder for the scan but just drink whatever you can keep down. At 8 weeks they might be able to see baby with abdominal scan but for detail and heartbeat it's common to need internal. I've had multiple internal scans. They really are not that bad, and not painful at all and are very useful for getting details of baby and heartbeat etc.
Hope your scan goes well Flowers

The internal scan is fine, it's not painful so don't worry about it.

Is your discharge just normal discharge (I.e. No blood)? If so, extra discharge is absolutely normal during pregnancy, it's your body putting extra effort into making sure you don't get any infections

Cramping is also very normal...it's your uterus stretching to make room for baby.

Thanks i shall drink lots of orange juice then. oh my twins the thought of pushing one out is bad enough i dont do well with pain....... congrates to you x

Empty bladder for internal and possibly full bladder for external as only 8 weeks. At 12 weeks didn't need a full bladder. Good luck xx

Katlin17 · 19/07/2017 17:01

Stumbly
Well it started of as a dark red bit of blood then it was brownish next. The cramping woke me up in the night and it feels so much worse when iam standing and walking.... i dont want to sit around all the time? Also iv had yellow stool for the past week is that normal? X
