I've been semi awake all night due to being uncomfy after spell of having really intense sharp pain in one area (hip on height on right side, maybe a inch or so in from hip) The pain came in waves and made me curl into a ball at times. It started when I lay down, I was lying on my back propped up by pillows (was watching TV and hadn't quite got to lying on side to sleep) No position or movement eased or worsened it, it just kept coming in waves.

It passed after a hour or so, but I was left very uncomfy.

This morning I'm shattered and the uncomfy feeling has rammed up to a dull constant ache in the same area. I also have period like cramps right across my stomach and a milder ache in my right buttock and groin area.

I read up on round ligament pain etc but it doesn't seem to fit as the pain is in waves, and really low (I. E. Not travelling up past my hip, just one small area last night)

I was worried and tired but not this cramp has started I'm in a panic.

I'm 21+6, home alone with no access to a working phone (only wifi) so can't contact midwife. I've tried to get a message to DP to come home but knowing his job it could be mod afternoon before I get him.

I'm such a worrier, and have stupidly got myself worked up.

Has anyone experienced anything like this, or can help calm me down. I'm worried I'm miscarrying to be completely honest....

Note. I don't feel any movements, occasional flutter but the way my placenta lies means I can't feel kicks etc yet.

So I'm 2 days ahead of you, same thing happened last night. Went into delivery unit and was checked over , concluded it was round ligament pain and possible uti. It was pretty painful (and I've had 1 baby already) but hang in there , do get checked if you're worried

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 08:55

I'm in such a panic 😟
Glad you're OK. I guess ligament pain presents in different ways in each person?

Yeah it's your uterus expanding plus other bits , painful but that's pregnancy for you!

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 09:22

I don't mind the pain, after all... I'm in for a lot more all going well!

I'm normally indifferent to pain at this level, pick myself up and get on with it, but with bump to worry about I find I stress about everything!

I'm about 36 weeks and I had something very similar last week. Turns out the baby is growing and moved on a nerve (ouch!) But definitely get it checked out at tye dat clinic at the hospital because pains can mean all sorts of things x

MotherofKitties · 19/07/2017 11:38

I had this quite a lot, and it would come on suddenly with no warning and leave me almost unable to walk; turned out it was baby lying on a nerve and when she touched/laid on this nerve the pain was so bad, but it did go.

I'm 38 weeks now and not had it for about 6-8 weeks. I did get referred for physio which I declined as by the time I got the referral I reloaded it was intermittent and didn't want to take up a space that someone else with PGP etc could have.

Try hot water bottles, paracetamol and a spikey massage ball on your hip/bum area and that will hopefully ease the pain until you can see a midwife or doctor. Hope you feel better soon x

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 13:15

Thank you.

When baby was on a nerve was it the same pulsing, sharp pain?

Why don't you just call the maternity unit for peace of mind op? X

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 14:41

Like I said I have no access to a working phone today. I'm on here thanks to wifi.

Posted too early...

Or I would call, even just for reassurance. DP will be home in 3 or so hours, if it's still bad I'll call out of hours then.

It's always worth getting any pain checked out either by your midwife or GP- can you get in contact with someone via internet who can phone the midwifery unit for you?

I would also look Into the phone issue asap. It's not good to have no access to a working phone when you're pregnant. I appreciate it's probably temporary but maybe see if you can borrow a phone or get a cheap pay as you go to make sure you can contact people in an emergency if needed.

On the wifi issue, you could get Skype and buy some credits so you can make outgoing calls.

It's worth calling your midwife, but also pregnancy is full of odd sensations! But better to check than not, I'd say.

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 14:56

Ironically my phone completely gave up just yesterday. Not good timing.

I've messaged DP, we decided to go to out of hours if not better by the time he gets home. Unfortunately no one lives close enough for a lift / call now x

OP posts:
OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 14:58

It's not a credit issue. My phone is broke. Knackered the signal bar so can't get anything through.

Thanks though. As said, DP will call frequently until he's due home and we will just see how it goes. I definitely see a out of hours trip tonight though if it's cleared completely as that will have been 24 hours

Skype credits work over wifi - they let you call a real phone when you only have wifi, I use it a lot when travelling. It sounds like you have a plan for today but I just thought I'd mention that in case it's ever useful.

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 15:10

That does sound useful. I'll definitely look into it incase anything like this happens again.

Yeah when she was on the nerve growing ness, it was this throbbing but very sharp side pain and came and went but along side horrific back ache. You can always just walk into a hospital day clinic, don't need a phone for that :-) x

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 15:26

My nearest is 18miles away, and reachable by two buses or a car trip but I can't walk / drive too far as it's simply too sore.

I think bump might be on a nerve, or I've pulled something... I wouldn't normally bother as much but being pregnant has made me a little crazy.

OP posts:
Gothbaby · 19/07/2017 16:24

Ah lame :-( well sadly it'll be a waiting game! Yeah ache's or pains i used to ignore buttt pregnancy has made me like "what the hell is wrong? !" Xxxxx

OnNaturesCourse · 19/07/2017 16:44

Not long until DP is home, funny the additional comfort him being close can bring x

OP posts:
SS81C · 19/07/2017 17:02

Glad DP is home soon x

OnNaturesCourse · 20/07/2017 11:07

Didn't sleep much again, still uncomfy but pain has eased. I only get a twinge now and then, mainly when moving / standing. Definitely think it's muscle now, but will continue to monitor it. Thank you all for your support x
