Am I feeling the baby move or just imagining it?

Hello!

I'm 17wks pregnant, and pretty sure I can feel the baby move almost constantly. If it is her, she's especially active a little while after I eat (especially something calorific) or if I go from sitting up to lying down.

But, it's so often that I'm not sure if this really is the baby, or I'm just imagining things. So would really like your advice please.

I can't feel kicks, I don't think, just general movement. It feels a bit like there's a tiny goldfish in my stomach, or someone is stroking their little finger along my stomach wall.

It started off very lightly - like bubbles popping - at about 13 weeks, and is getting stronger every day.

I'm not sure if it's a bit high to actually be the baby too - about 3/4 of an inch above my bellybutton when I'm sitting down. Surely it should be lower? I'm really short, so my midsection is quite compact, if that helps!

This is my first baby and I'm a size 10-12 normally. About a 12-14 now, after 3 months of only being able to stomach carbs and chicken nuggets.

Maybe my stomach has always felt like this, and I've just forgotten?!

I think that's probably baby. I remember it feeling like a butterfly fluttering in my tummy Smile

BikeRunSki · 18/07/2017 19:32

Yes, that's her
I said it felt like lemonade in my veins.

Cold or sugary drinks usually make them wriggle more.

WowserBowser · 18/07/2017 19:34

Yes! I felt both of mine move around the 17 week mark.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 18/07/2017 19:34

That's too high up. At this stage you'd feel flutters just above your public bone.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 18/07/2017 19:35

Stupid phone. PUBIC bone obviously.

I had mine around the belly button

Think i started feeling baby move this time around the 16-17wk stage so probably is

sizeofalentil · 18/07/2017 19:45

ExcuseMyEyebrows - that's what I was thinking, but I am really short-bodied, so I might just naturally be more squished than normal humans?

I was feeling little kicks just under my ribs at 19 weeks thought I was imagining it...went to a scan at 20+1 was told my baby's legs were very long and there they were kicking me during the scan :)

WildKiwi · 18/07/2017 19:59

Sounds like baby wriggling around to me. I was a similar size to you and DS was quite high, so all the movements I felt from him were above my belly button. Later on he spent all his time with his legs wedged up like he was trying to escape via my rib cage. His sense of direction still hasn't improved Grin

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 18/07/2017 20:00

It must be the baby then, isn't it an amazing feeling? Smile

sizeofalentil · 18/07/2017 20:11

ExcuseMyEyebrows - I don't want to get too excited just yet: I might have worms or gas or something!

Baby was breech at a 16 week scan if that makes any difference. So could be she's trying to turn round?

Maybe it was the baby tugging or moving the placenta I felt before? Getting the same feelings but lower down in my stomach now, so maybe the baby turned or something?

Such a weird feeling to know there's a tiny human living in my stomach…

Thank you all for your replies and help. Sometimes, I feel like without this board I'd go mad. Flowers
