Bleeding with low lying placenta but speculum clear

Hi everyone, just a quick question as starting to worry that I've gone crazy. I attended hospital yesterday at 23 weeks with brown spotting. I have a low lying placenta. The spotting only lasted an hour and had stopped completely by the time I got to hospital. I then waited two hours to be seen. Baby was fine on ultrasound thank god. Placenta still low lying. The doctor did an internal speculum examination and found nothing - the speculum was completely clear. She then queried whether I was sure there had been spotting as it would be very unusual to have a clear speculum three hours after spotting had stopped. I felt like a bit of a time waster and am starting to wonder if Iimagined the whole thing! Has anyone had spotting with a low lying placenta with nothing then seen on internal examination?

The same kept happening to me. I also had light bleeding. I was in and out of hospital. Nobody could ever tell me why. I remember having internal examinations but they were clear. DS is 5 now, so I'm going back a while. My placenta did move in the end so I was able to have a natural delivery. I really hope you're not too worried and they can reassure you x
