Baby moving lots after eating?

Hi all,

I am currently 20 weeks with our first baby and wondered if anyone more experienced could answer a query?

A few weeks ago I started to feel little flutters like little taps or butterflies which I assumed were the baby moving around.

Now they are getting more pronounced and are more like rolling around in there (I do love it!)

But I only notice them when I'm sat down (or recently when lying in certain positions). And really really noticeable after I've eaten (especially a big meal).

And this brings me to my question - is it that my baby just loves food (like his mum!!) Or is it some weird physiology that pushes down on him when my stomach is full? (It's so lovely it just makes me want to eat allll the time!!)

Anyone else experienced this?

Yeh, a bit of both. When you move around bub is rocked to sleep so you'll feel the movements more when you sit or lie down. Also the sugar from food will give them an energy boost. Also as they get bigger, there isn't much room so a full stomach will encroach on their space a bit and might make them move to get comfy.

Thanks husky , i never teally thought he'd be responding to my movements- imagined him to be in a little bubble in there just getting on with his own thing!

It's the energy/sugar rush from the meal, totally normal. And yep they are lulled to sleep by the everyday movements, always come awake when it stops so women often are kept awake by it because baby wakes up when everything is still and quiet.

Mine moves when I eat and when I'm hungry! I always wonder if it's because it's noisier in there when I'm hungry or if the baby is hungry too.

Sometimes I wake up and stay still and bub is still asleep, and lovely DH brings me tea and toast in bed, and as soon as the food hits my stomach bub wakes up! Haha! It must be the digestion noises!!

If I have a cuppa, mine (30w) has a party. Anything sugary (cake, ice cream etc) feels like it's jumping on a trampoline!
