Anyone else going through this weird phase?! Don't remember it with my last pregnancy!

I just cannot seem to eat enough, feel constantly hungry, and then snack on crap because I don't know what I actually want / need.

I have tried so hard to snack on stuff like carrots, fruit, snack a jacks etc, but they just aren't filling or satisfying enough! I try to drink water when I'm hungry, but that doesn't seem to kill the hunger either.

Any suggestions for yummy, healthy, filling and satisfying snacks?!

Peanut butter and banana on wholemeal toast, hummus/guacamole and oatcakes, I'm currently partial to a huge bowl of porridge with prunes & cinnamon, yum!! 23 weeks and could eat alllll day if it wasn't for the acid reflux Sad

Porridge ! What a brilliant idea.

Love peanut butter and banana on toast - silly thing is, I never think of that as a snack as I have it for breakfast!!

I seriously need to be careful - if I carry on at the rate I've been going this week, I'll be the size of a house Blush

My favourite was peanut butter and banana milkshake.

Zampa · 16/07/2017 07:58

I don't think that there's anything wrong with feeling hungry whilst pregnant and eating to resolve that hunger.

Have you put on a sensible amount of weight?

This just might be a phase that will peter out.

Bobbiepin · 16/07/2017 08:01

Oh god yes! I'm 25 weeka and eating anuthing I can get my hands on. I'm travelling up to my sister's for linch today but planning on stopping off en route to have food before I get there! Nutella on toast and cereal seem to be my weakness, I got through a mega family sized pack of golden nuggets in three days last week!

tootsieglitterballs · 16/07/2017 08:07

I just can't seem to feel satisfied with anything so have something else to try and satisfy. It's like I can't put my finger on what I want / need!

I ended up devouring a magnum, a rice cake, 2 slices of bread and a slice of cheese in an hour last night as I was so peckish but couldn't find that the thing I needed!

Peanut butter is a firm favourite here so perhaps I need to try that when super hungry as it's good for filling me up.

Try things with different textures too - granola with skimmed milk, ramen in soy sauce, nuts.

DontBeBlueBeARainbow · 16/07/2017 08:22

You could try and add in another meal, which opens your options up. Soup with bread, salad with some protein, anything filling really.

EmilyK83 · 16/07/2017 08:38

Totally agree that protein is the way to go, it'll keep you feeling nice and full! Low fat yoghurts, crab sticks...I always have slices of ham and stuff in the fridge that I wrap around gherkins and light cheese triangles for a snack!

Sasmac2017 · 16/07/2017 08:47

Omg...starving over here too am I'm 35 weeks tomorrow. I thought as we got along the baby is 'supposed to squish your belly making it hard to eat'. Pffft! What rubbish haha. Only advice I can offer is try and be sensible. I ate whatever the he'll I wanted whenever I wanted with my first and gained 85 lbs. But I did lose it all with a lot of workouts :)

tootsieglitterballs · 16/07/2017 08:59

So I've had peanut butter with chia seeds and topped with a banana for breakfast - on whole grain seeded bread - hopefully that helps this morning!

I have no idea how much weight I've put on so far this time - our scales just don't seem to be accurate! I try them on the flattest floors In our house, and between 2 different rooms my weight changes by 10lb , so I actually have no idea where I'm at right now.

At the top end of what my scales are picking up, I'll have put on about 6lb total so far.

Last pregnancy I was still being sick at this point so lost loads and ended up weighing less at this point than I did before I was pregnant.

I was trying so hard pre pregnancy to loose weight, then I fell pregnant, nausea (but not much sickness) hit and I got bronchitis and just ended up eating what I fancied, just to make me feel better.

I need to get back into meal planning, making healthy , easy snacks (for me and toddler) and stop buying rubbish!

Easier said than done though isn't it tootsie! I went out and did a healthy shop the other day - including stuff to snack on as well as easy meals...came home, had lunch, then went to the local chippy in the afternoon for a massive portion of chips...

Foggymist · 16/07/2017 10:13

I'm quite fascinated by how much weight I've put on. I'm 22 weeks, have put on about 1.5 stone. Yet it's barely visible that I'm even pregnant (like last time), I don't look much bigger at all yet. Baby weighs about a pound. While I'm constantly hungry I'm also not eating as much as I want because of the heartburn, so I'm curious as to where all the weight is coming from, and going! I must have a very heavy placenta Grin

meltingmarshmallows · 16/07/2017 17:04

I've been the same! It's so hard. I've taken to nibbling on fruit and nut or the occasional spoon full of peanut butter. I could quite happily eat a multipack of crisps though. No cravings yet just want to eat all the carbs!
