Anyone pregnant with fibroids?

I'm currently 13w pregnant after ttc 2.5 years. I already knew I had a fibroid and when we started fertility tests after a year ttc they discovered I had 4! Largest was 7cm, down to 1.5cm. The Drs said the whole time that their position outside the womb meant they won't stop me conceiving - we had sperm quality issues and they assume that's why it took us so long, but I've always been a bit sceptical.

Anyway, now I'm pregnant I've had a little red spotting at 5w which didn't worry me, but then two episodes of bright red bleeding at 9w and again now at 13w. Ended up being scanned both times and all is fine with the pregnancy and they can't see a reason for the bleeds. My fibroids have grown, largest now 9.5cm, and i can feel them protruding out I'm already in maternity tops.

Has anyone else pregnant with fibroids experienced this or other issues? Am I likely to keep bleeding periodically?!

Me !
Huge congratulations on your pregnancy lovely xxx
My mahoosive fibroid was discovered at my 13 week scan ( my 2nd pregnancy) it's big bugger 15cm by 16cm by 15cm so size of a melon really 🙁 but I'm nearly 34 weeks and touch wood it's been ok! I've not had bleeding but have had periods of needing to take the codeine the consultant prescribed me.
I go regularly for extra scans and the baby is growing fine. I've finally grown into my baby bump ( the size of it made me look about 6 months pregnant really early on so it seems like ( to other people I've been pregnant for about 18 months !! )

It is impacting on my birth as I'm 99% sure I'm going to have a c section as even though the consultant thinks I could have a vaginal birth on the labour ward. I had a horrific birth ( torn placenta and 3rd degree tear ) so even though I'm terrified of hospitals I'm going for the planned c section option so it's organised and controlled and the team will be prepared for the fibroid as well as the baby.
I don't know what will happen to the fibroid but I suppose it will all depend on the baby/ birth. I'm trying not to think about it really. 🙄 I would be happy for them to whip it out when they deliver the baby and is even have a hysterectomy.

Anyway take care love and good luck with the pregnancy xx

Thank you lily Smile Wow, what a big fibroid! So glad it isn't causing any problems and congratulations on your pregnancy!
I hope I reach full term without any further problems and I too would be delighted to get them whipped out after birth. This is just pregnancy 1 though so not ready for a hysterectomy yet!
Good luck and thanks for the good wishes Smile

I had one when pregnant with DD which was found at the 13w scan. It didn't cause any problems but I got an extra scan at 32w to check things out. It was wedged right at the top of my bump - you could feel it really clearly- and fooled many a midwife into thinking it was DD's head and she was facing the wrong way!

Yes - I had two smaller ones (roughly 5 x 5).
I had bleeding in early pregnancy but I don't know of this was fibroid related.
As above I had growth scans in the third trimester. Their positions were well away from the cervix and so I was fine for a natural birth (and got the go ahead to use the birth centre). Although you would need to discuss the criteria with your midwife.
I had to have managed third stage (an injection to deliver the placenta) as there is a higher risk of pph.

I went back for a scan 15 months after DS was born and only one fibroid was visible and had shrunk to 3 x3. I felk pregnant soon after the scan and at my 12 week scan even that fibroid had vanished!

Good luck with your pregnancy!
