Basically due to pains I had a scan today. The pains stopped two days ago and just normal aches. Had scan today. Yet another date given. They say I'm 6 weeks today or possibly only, 5.6 lmp 24/5 didnt ov until approx 15/6 via follicle tracking. So would only be4 weeks past ov. So I guess that 's all right
However r she saw yolk sack and what looked like a grain of rice in there but was only 1-2mm, I th ink she said. She said it would be too early for a beat. But I've seen ppl say they saw at 6 weeks gestation. Or would they of meant 6 weeks after ov. I hag e to go back in 12 days for another one but worried. Dp thinks all OK as she said looks OK from where she is but I still worry but then I think I read too much into stuff.

My last pregnancy I had a scan at 6 weeks and no heartbeat, did a rescan at 8 weeks and saw heartbeat. This pregnancy my 6 week scan showed a heartbeat.

LotisBlue · 13/07/2017 16:17

Something similar happened to me and I was worried sick that there was no heartbeat at six weeks, and that the foetus was about half of the size that it should be. I didn't realise at the time how fast they grow at that stage, they double in size every few days. I went back a week later and the foetus was fine (and is now 4 years old!).

Obviously no one can tell you that it will definitely all be fine, early pregnancy is a precarious time. But it sounds like you have a good chance of it being OK.

Flowers for you, as I still remember how stressful it was.

I saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks from an internal scan, but others I've heard haven't until later. Hope everything is ok x

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2017 16:32

Yes, we've had this. No heartbeat at 6wks, scanned again at 8 and there it was.

Justhadmyhaircut · 13/07/2017 16:34

Unless you have had pain and bleeding I would try and relax.

Mum2oneds · 13/07/2017 17:30

Thanks. We'll that's why I had the scan as had pain on one side. They said all OK. Not ectopic or any cysts on ovary. Just hoping it's because it's too early. It's so hard not to worry just need to keep busy until then x

Seeing a yolk sac is generally a good sign. Unless you experience bleeding OP it should be OK. Please try not to worry. Flowers

OK that's reassuring. I was going to book a private one for next Fri so 4 days earlier than my next apt but prob be silly to do that. I know everyone is different but it's getting my head around it all as was on clomid and I didnt ov until day 21. They told me then doubt it would work and it did so mega chuffed just stress over stuff. X lol

6+2 is the earliest I picked up a heartbeat. It's so hard to be exact to the day on dates at this stage as every day counts. I had a private scan done at 7 weeks and you should see a flicker by then for sure. Often it's not steady though so don't be freaked out if it's not a set 140 counts per minute. A flicker is all good. Also a fetal pole of 1-2mm is a good start :)

Mum2oneds · 13/07/2017 19:45

Thank you so much. Dp is now thinking possible private test on Fri next week so he can come as he's working away on a course on the next scan so also gives peace of mind x

I had a scan at 6 wks, they saw yolk sac and fetal pole (was 1.54mm) but no heartbeat. I googled far too much and expected the worst but all was fine at the next scan two weeks later.
Fingers crossed that it's all fine when you go back.

Mum2oneds · 13/07/2017 21:55

Thank you for your reply.
I didn't realise the embryo had the same name as fetal pole. I just hope the next scan shows a beat
So having the yolk sac and the pole is good? If anything today I'd be bang on 6 weeks going by her dates, that she work Ed out on paper. Due to having tracking and clomid I didn't ov until day 21. So would be 7" weeks lmp but due to week late ov. She said would be 6 weeks... Would the 1-2mm be the right size. X..

1-2mm would be fine OP. The fetal pole starts developing at around 6 weeks and grows about 1mm every day. So if you're 5+6 or 6 weeks, 1-2mm is the right size. At that stage a heartbeat MIGHT be detected on a transvaginal ultrasound but AFAIK not on a normal ultrasound. But it's possible to not see a heartbeat until 7 or 8 weeks. Remember the heart only starts beating between 5+4ish and 6+3ish.

Don't panic - it all sounds good so far and seeing a fetal pole is good! :)

peachgreen · 13/07/2017 23:10

Also I had a scan at 6+4 and then one 2 weeks later at which point I jumped forward a week! So you never know what's going on with dates! :)

Caterina99 · 14/07/2017 17:15

I had an internal scan at 6+1 due to previous ectopic and v standard 28 day cycle and used opk which showed day 14 so I was pretty certain of dates.

No heartbeat and measured 5+5, but they weren't concerned. Obviously I was a bit! 2 weeks later I was back to my original dates and a strong heartbeat. Everything is so small at that point, there is definitely a margin for error.

twoseven · 26/07/2017 07:23

how are you OP?

Mum2oneds · 26/07/2017 20:16

Hi. I did post yesterday as couldn't find this convo lol
Had a private one last Thurs and was all OK. But put me back a week. But as explained I ovd late
Had a scan yesterday the NHS follow up and measured 7.1 weeks. Nice fast heartbeat. Roll on the 12 week one. Feel much more relaxed now.
