Does this sound normal?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, high risk..
The last 3 we'll 4 days today my symptoms have got so much worse..

  • going for a wee litterally even 5/10 mins
  • a lot of pressure down down below (even gets hard to walk & I have to stop)
  • a lot more frequent & looser bowel movements.
  • braxton hicks I have had for a few weeks now, they seem a little worse & frequent, this morning I had cramping pains when woke up I haven't since tho just constant stomach tightenings.

Does all this sound normal to you? I'm extra cautious & worried from previous pregnancies but I don't want to keep rushing down to triage either as my last daughter was born at 26 weeks, I had nightly contractions for a week before I went into full labour & gave birth to her..
3 days before I have birth I went to the hospital for them to tell me I was fine & sent me home!
The day she was born when I went in they tested me etc said I defo was fine was just about to release me I went into full blown labour which I still think went so sudden from the (what's is called) the plastic tube thing they put inside you, to check cervix, names gone out my head haha.
So I don't want to be going to get checked constantly when that didn't help last time.

I also took my first dose of steroids yesterday, second lot tonight.
Reading up on then I saw a study where 70% of women delivered in the 1st 3 days after taking them.
& the percentage obviously got a lot smaller for women up to 7 days then again even less after 14 days.
So it made me wonder..
I then researched & saw that these steroids are used for many animals including cattle, goat & sheep to induce labour?!
So does anyone else know or had experience taking dexathesome & not long going into labour?

I had them in my last pregnancy but only lasted a day or two then gave birth to my daughter, so they wouldn't have took full effect hence having to take them earlier this time round.

Wow, sorry for the essay just a little worried!!

I think you need to call your midwife for advice here Flowers

I agree with pottering. Give your midwife or antenatal unit a call.

Definitely call your midwife or go to triage! listen to what your body is telling you and if you're worried enough to post on here you're worried enough to go in. It doesn't matter what they think and talk to them about the speculum examination if you're worried.
Also I took the steroids at 27 weeks and didn't deliver until 32 weeks. They give the steroids when something has happened to make them think that babies will come early so it's more that the baby is likely to come early due to something else rather than the steroids.

Okay thanks, I just know they'll tell me to go down to get checked and didn't want all the vaginal examinations making anything worse, thank you for reading and advice Smile

I did talk to them a while back about a month ago I had some water leakage, which turned out to be nothing but they didn't really understand about the speculum ah that's the word lol! & said if your going into labour anyway then what does it matter (like huh?!)

oh that's good then and reassuring as that's 5 weeks so obviously didn't make a difference to you at all. yes I have a incompetent cervix I had a stitch with the last that only held for a couple of weeks, I didn't manage to get one this time as was late on in pregnancy by time I started seeing my consultant so he said they'd just watch as it's also a risky procedure.
