New just found out bfp. But pain and confusion on dates etc Please help.

OK so long story short. Been tcc for 18m. Lap back in Feb for endo and cyst. 1st round of clomid 100mg and 1000 metformin... That's after a mess up and they doubled it to 2000met and made me ill. Didn't OV until Cd 20ish via follicle tracking.. However got my bfp totally unexpected due to the mess up in tabs. We are over the moon.

However my LMP was 24/5/17 which via that I'm 7 weeks. But would make fetal age 4 weeks?

Today I've had a lot of pain on my right side. I originally had an early scan for 1/8/17 as I think the original nurse did my dates from ov. However when j phoned today she said I'm 7 not 4 weeks and to go in two days time. Which she worked out at 7.2 since LMP. I worry it will be too early to see a heart beat as ov'd later but she said won't matter ( would make it 28 days past ov / conceived .?

Please any advice. I'm not here for a one off as used to use this site when had DS 11 yrs ago... And wow it's changed.

I think if you're seven weeks you could see a heart beat but there's a chance that you won't hear anything. My LMP was 16/5 and I'm 8 weeks today and I have an early scan book for Thursday next week. Can you wait until you're 8 weeks? I think you have more chance of a heartbeat then

I had a scan last week at 7 weeks and seeing the heart beat was incredible, plus confirmed date for me.

Hey op, don't worry if it's too early to see a heart beat they will bring you back in a week or two to check again. You will probably be a week less than your lmp so six weeks so may still be possible to see hb. Good luck and hopefully all is well.

I had a scan 2 weeks ago. I am a late ovulater - by LMP I was 7 weeks, 1 day. Baby measured 6 weeks 1 day (foetal age therefor 4 weeks). We could see a heartbeat. Best of luck.

Hey I've seen heart beats at 6 weeks 1 day, so it's not too soon and is a magical moment. Looking at my little boy it's mind blowing to know I saw him as tiny fetal pole with his heart beating away.

On the less joyful side, with my last pregnancy lack of anything on the scan at 7 weeks coupled with the expected levels of hgc from the blood test meant I was well looked after.

I had a scan at 7.2 at a private place to ease my nerves (few mcs in the past) and we saw a heart beat. DD is now 7 months. Good luck!

You will be able to see the sac at least and the size is useful to estimate dates. If the pregnancy is too early to see a heartbeat you will usually be re scanned in a week to make sure all progressing ok. However at seven weeks and with pain I would definitely get scanned asap to confirm the pregnancy is where it is meant to be as there isn't a chance it is an ectopic - if so the earlier at it picked up the easier it is to manage. Btw did you tell the midwife that you were Having significant pain? Worth letting them know as they may scan sooner

My last message didn't post.. Wasn't being ignorant. Yes told them about the pain which is why she brought the scan forward from Aug. They just confused me with dates as told two diff things. They Gav e me out of hrs number and said if get upset tummy or shoulder pain to go straight to A&E. As could indicate ectopic as I'm higher risk due to previous surgeries and large amounts of endo.. Two days to wait seems forever. X

How did your scan go?

Hi. Had scan. Did a separate thread. See yolk sac. And what looked like 01-2mm embryo. No beat yet tho. Got to go back on 25th. So worried. Part of me says stop worrying as it's early. I the r part says accept that it prob won't work. So tempted to pay for private scan for next Friday or something as that would be an extra, 8 days so hope to ease my mind. I have a control issue over not knowing stuff so this is so hard. I keep Googling stuff but get so many mixed stories.
Good thing was all in right place. The side pains have gone.. Just achy back now and tugging sensation low abdomen... But guess that's normal

Also dp is saying do a private one next week as he's away on t he other one but don't want to waste time of would still be too early

A yolk sac and fetal pole is good news, at this stage a week can mean a lot of change.

Regarding private scans i can only give you my experience. In took 2 years for me fall pregnant the first time. I had missed misscarriage. I was very lucky to fall pregnant again within a few months. However my anxiety sky rocketed. I had private scans before my 12 week scan. It didn't make the anxiety go but it did reduce it. Also there was a lot of change at each scan. If you do have a private after 8 days you will probably see a change x

Sorry I missed the key point I had 4 scans at 6, 8 m, 9 and 11 weeks. Probably excessive but it helped me.

OK so she just said a 1-2mm,embryo. Does that mean fetal pole... Looked like a grain of rice.. She didn't let me see the screen much dp could see it but he has no idea what's what lol

My son was a tiny straight line of 2.1 mm with a flickering heart beat in my first scan.

My understanding is a fetal pole is the first visible sign of an embryo, so it can be seen before the heart beat starts.

Thank you. Private scan booked for next Thursday. Which would be 5 weeks after ovulation. 8 weeks lmp... But didn't ov until cd21 so would make me 7 weeks Thursday?
