5 WEEKS WAIT

Hi All,

I know everybody has to do this but i am 7+2 and have now known for 3 whole weeks that we are pregnant :), my first midwife appointment is next week and i really can not wait.

I am feeling so impatient and almost nervous about the next 5 weeks that i have to wait until our scan, we have told our parents but we dont want to tell anybody else until we know the baby is all OK.

5 weeks feels like such a long wait, am i being stupid or is this normal?

Also does anybody know if the community midwife listens to the heartbeat at the first appointment? (8wks) this will be in Dartford Kent? xxx

They don't listen to the heartbeat that early as it can't be picked up. I hated all the waiting but you just have to do it. Even if you had an early scan or similar, things can still go wrong so it's best to just go with it and wait.

I was a bit worried about a lot of things and as it happened we had an increased risk of a chromosomal issue at our 12 weeks scan. However after the tests and a hellish few days everything was fine and my baby daughter is now 3 months old ☺️

thanks for getting back to me! and congratulations - im glad your baby girl is well.

i suppose i will have to find lots to do to bide the time... usually 5 weeks flies by so hoepfully this wont be any different :)

They won't even try and listen to the heartbeat until at least 16 weeks x

@twinklestars15 that seems like such a long time but of course they know what theyre doing so will have to go with it! just want to make sure all is ok in there!

you don't have to wait til 12 weeks to tell people. We didn't

I'm 20 weeks and haven't had the babies heart beat listened to by a midwife. First we heard was at 16+3 at a private scan we paid for x
