HORRENDOUS morning sickness!

I never was this sick with DS! Only 6 weeks pregnant with twins as I just found out yesterday. I'm so sick and shakey I can't stand up without decorating everything in my spew! I take Promethazine anyway and was told by my doctor that it is prescribed for morning sickness a lot. Also taking Omeprazole but I can't keep anything down atm. Should I talk to my doctor about this or just ride it out and see how it goes? It has been constant the past few days even during my scan I had to have a sick bowl near me. Poor hubby had to carry me out of the clinic. Any advice? xx

You need to see your doctor as soon as possible. You don't want to be getting dehydrated then admitted to hospital for fluids if you can avoid it.

PrincessHairyMclary · 11/07/2017 07:13

It could be hyperemesis which is awful so getting to the GP is important, providing you are a healthy weight the most dangerous thing about HE is dehydration so get water into your body anyway you can, tiny sips of water every 15 mins sucking on ice oldies etc.

Are you still urinating, what colour is it if it's very dark or there's not a lot go to the GP today. What's your vomit like, is it normal like with a stomach bug or is it dark green? Again GP. Getting rehydrated in hospital made me feel a million times better and only took 24hrs.

The vomit is more just like a lot if yellow bile. Urine is yellow but not dark. It's hard to drink since my throat hurts so much from all the puking xx

Please go see dr asap. Make appointment for today if you can - the longer you leave it the higher your chances of being admitted, and the longer you're likely to stay in.

Speaking from experience, my hypremisis was so bad that at first they thought I was having twins! So I do sympathise!

I ended up just about controlling sickness by the end of pregnancy. The dr gave me something that melted on the tongue that just about sorted me enough to take the rest of the medication.

Jeez sorry, sound like such a scaremonger! But please do get appointment if you can! Agree with pp - some fluids in hospital do make you feel so much better.

Good luck, and congratulations!

Thank you for the advice it really calms me down a bit. I'll phone them when they open and try to get an appointment. In exactly 8 minutes lol xx

Got my doctor on the phone, and he said it's hyperemesis. Hubby is on his way to pick up my cyclizine and metoclopramide from boots right now. I really hope this goes away it's awful! Really sorry to those who experienced it during pregnancy xx

If those drugs don't help you (they are the first line approach, and cyclizine is similar to promethezine although someone's one works for someone and not the other) then don't wait too long before you go back. Ask about ondansetron. Get some ketostix from the chemist and keep an eye on your urine. If you get dehydrated, go in for a drip. In the mean time sip fluids to stay hydrated (sugary drinks like Coke, lucosade often help) and try bland salty carbs like ready salted crisps.

There's a Hyperemesis Support thread on here if you need us.

Odansetron. Will keep that in mind thank you! I will also have a look at that support thread! Thanks a lot Lemondrop99 xx
