Just after some advice/ reassurance!

I'm currently 8 weeks and suffering badly with sickness. I have been admitted to hospital due to dehydration and tried different types of anti sickness. My current one is the best of a bad bunch I'm still constantly neaseous and sick a few times but managing to have some food and drink and im able to get out of bed and function although still feeling terrible!

My worry now is weather any damage could of been done to the baby? I've gone weeks without eating or drinking and have not managed to take folic acid or any type of pregnancy vitamins so far. Just hoping for some similar stories from people who have had the same problems but gone on to have healthy babies?

I feel so guilty I could of already caused some damage! I can't get a midwife appointment for another 3 weeks and my gps aren't being very helpful despite being told next pregnancy (I have a child) I would need to be under special care! No one seems to be in any rush to get me checked!

Sorry for long post don't know where else to go!

I had hg earlier in my pregnancy, spent 4 days in hospital on a drip. Although baby hasn't been born yet so I can't say for sure, I'm now 31 weeks and e everything seems to be going smoothly. Only difference is I did manage to take folic acid some days, although certainly didn't take it or keep it down every day! Hope that can reassure you a little because I also worried about this!

I had hg and couldn't keep vitamins down. I took ondansetron the whole pregnancy for the nausea and sickness. I have a healthy 3 month old now. Try not to worry- you can only do your best and sickness is awful. Statistically your baby is likely to be completely healthy even if you can't take the folic acid.

Sorry you are feeling so awful. I have had two hyperemesis pregnancies and both resulted in healthy babies. I was hospitalised about 7 times with each of them, did not follow a healthy diet, did not manage to keep folic acid down, took all sorts of drugs but the babies were fine. It was just me who suffered! I still remember how awful it was and my children are now 22 and 16. The consultant at the hospital told me not to worry about what I was able to eat as the baby would just draw on my reserves - this would make me feel awful but the baby would be okay. My MIL knitted premature baby clothes because she was so convinced the babies would be tiny as I had been so sick - needless to say they didn't fit!

The baby will take everything it needs from you leaving you deficient if need be so dont worry about that , its the mother that suffers , ive been hospitalised 6 times and have lost lots of weight in this pregnancy and baby is following the 50th centile and perfectly healthy according to growth scans , just concentrate on getting you feeling more human again and good luck i hope the sickness improves soon for you

I had similar with first two pregnancies. Constant sickness antiemetics didn't work and I need a drip to rehydrate. I couldn't take any vitamins but both babies were very healthy.

I have same worries as I have hyperemesis. I was taking folic acid until 5 weeks when the sickness started but then it's been hit and miss. I'm 14 weeks now so god knows what the baby had been getting. There's not many nutrients in flat coke and hula hoops. Please come and join us on the hyperemesis support thread. There's also a great Facebook group called hyperemesis gravidarum support U.K. which is fantastic
