Taking tablets with "morning" sickness

Hi all

I'm on my second course of antibiotics (amoxicillin) for a urine infection. Problem is I can't swallow the tablets. Each time I try I end up gagging or throwing up. I can take my anti sickness tablets OK (cyclising) but the bigger antibiotics I can't manage.

Any hints and tips on how I can manage to get them down?

Could they prescribe you the liquid form? May be worth a call to your GP. Or you could empty the capsule?

I'd ask the pharmacist if it's ok to crush your particular tablet. If yes, you can take them in a spoonful of yoghurt. If not, the pharmacy may be able to give you a liquid version.

I got the liquid medicine when I needed amoxicillin...tasted like bananas...think it is meant for kids but it certainly helped me keep it down! Am useless generally with big tablets so will ask for the next time again even when not preggo.

Might try emptying the capsule and see how that goes. Booked appointment for Wednesday (earliest I could get) to see avou liquid.

Thanks all!

You wouldn't need an appointment at the GP, just call and explain to the receptionist then they can either just ask the Dr to do the script or the Dr will call you back.
