Third trimester gripes - let's share the empathy around

Ladies, many of you must have been finding the recent heat exhausting in third trimester, as have I. Does anyone need space for a good moan about how they're feeling in general? I do!

It's been a tough pregnancy as my Dad passed away from cancer a couple of months ago. Also, pregnancy with an extremely active 2 year old can be just exhausting, can't it! I do the large part of his childcare myself, and God, it's been hard during this pregnancy. He recently started some preschool sessions, which were a god send, but his preschool is about to break up for 6 weeks of summer holidays! DH and I are both exhausted, and we've just had a weekend of lots of arguing. I would love for him to do something like arrange a date night for us, and book a babysitter, as everything has been quite tough on our relationship, but that would always be down to me to organise, grrr. Sorry for rant! Return of wilder pregnancy hormones don't help! xx

I'm just into the third trimester and am having super lovely nerve pain low down, whenever my baby kicks in a certain spot it takes my breath away! I'm fat, I'm swollen, I'm stretched beyond belief (only going to get bigger I know), and yet I have to pretend pregnancy is this super magical thing when anyone asks.

It's no where near as bad as the first trimester, I wished for death, but at this point I'm tired and ready for baby time.

chelle85 · 10/07/2017 22:18

I'm just coming up to 35 weeks (years!) pregnant. Soooo tired all the time. Extremely hormonal, just start crying randomly at nothing at all. Getting some pretty strong kicks to the cervix which are eye watering and Braxton Hicks that make me feel sick they are that strong.

Throw in the ligament pain that kicked in the other day and I am thoroughly done with the whole pregnancy thing. Really hoping he turns up before his due date as I am more and more worried I am going to rip open from the belly button!

Chloris33 · 10/07/2017 22:31

Hugs Mandraki. I know that nerve pain!

Chelle, yep, bring on the end! I don't think partners really get the hormonal thing, either, at least mine doesn't!

Piles! Fecking piles! Like horrible purple grapes throbbing around my arsehole! Angry

I'd almost rather have the 1st trimester vomiting back.

Also knackered, sore back, need to pee every 30-45 mins so not sleeping well...pregnancy is such a delight! Hmm

4 weeks to go, can't flipping wait. Brew and Cake to fellow sufferers out there.

icecuube · 10/07/2017 22:37

Sorry to hear about your dad @Chloris33.
This is my first and I have no idea how people do this with an already little one running around. So kudos to you.

I'm 39 weeks now and it feels like it's dragging on forever. My feet hurt, I can't walk far and my legs are so restless I struggle to sleep at night. I'm so ready for it to be over now 😊

Katurah · 10/07/2017 22:45

32 weeks here and agree about how hard it is with a toddler. I adore my 20 month old but constantly feel guilty I'm not able to be as active and enthusiastic as he deserves and throwing second child guilt into the mix I spend most of my days feeling pretty wretched. Plus I wish I could bend!

I adored being pregnant last time, this time I just want baby here so I can stop fretting about how I'm going to cope and just get on with it!

Love to all!

ZigAZigAhh · 11/07/2017 07:00

34 weeks here and my current gripe is leg cramps at night! Never had this with DC1 (who was a Spring baby) so I suspect it has something to do with the heat and probably slight dehydration. Ouch! And ridiculously swollen feet and ankles every evening.

Plus the sheer exhaustion of juggling full time work with a very energetic two year old - DH has been doing everything in the evenings lately because all I have the energy to do is flop about on the couch like a beached whale.

Bumponhead · 11/07/2017 07:39

31 weeks here with baby number 3 and after having to majorly psych myself up for going through pregnancy for a third time I was pleasantly surprised at having a very easy time up until 28 weeks where I felt like I've hit a brick wall. There's just no escaping it in the third trimester. Especially not in hot weather, and with a very clingy 23 month old and 4 year old who only does mornings at nursery.

Mentally I want to just crack on and do all the things I usually do - trips to the park, swimming, walking the dog, toddler groups, play dates etc etc but I just don't have the energy and yesterday I overdid it and paid the price of having achy legs all night and couldn't sleep.

I'm used to being exhausted (I've spent the past 4 years being exhausted) but it's so hard when you can't just live off coffee and can't get to sleep when you have the opportunity.

Annoying thing is I know I still have probably 10 weeks to go and it will draaaaaagggggggggg.

dippypanda · 11/07/2017 07:46

30 weeks here with no2, already have a 6 year old. Felt ok apart from tired up till a couple of weeks ago, now it's more exhaustion especially as sleep seems to no longer exist! Leg cramps, swollen legs and wind! Looking forward to reducing my days at work in 2 and a half weeks time. Plus we're still decorating in the house Confused

mistletoeprickles · 11/07/2017 08:02

35 weeks here and my current and long standing gripe is people's need to comment:

Haven't you had that baby yet?
Are you struggling in the heat?
Not long to go!
Your bigger this time.

It irrationally annoys me to the point where I cried in the supermarket because I just wanted to do my shopping without a million people saying the same things over and over.

KikiA · 11/07/2017 18:58

Omg... praise mistletoe!! I am SICK to the back teeth of being asked how I'm coping in the heat!!! The heat is NOT the problem. I LOVE the sun. What I don't love is pregnancy!! I don't love the pelvic girdle pain, nor the hyperemesis I experienced, nor the hideous reflux.... I could go on. I got 99 problems, but the heat ain't one!! 😂

Urglewurgle · 11/07/2017 19:13

I'm 30 weeks and trying to cope with shingles.

I'm not coping very well and might cry/stab someone with the itching/pain.

I also have heartburn (obviously), restless legs and baby likes to sit on (and make balloon animals with) my bowel causing me IBS type cramping. All in all jolly good fun!

I only have 6 weeks left in work and for one of those I have annual leave. I get up at 5am for work so can't wait to stop that!

m33r · 11/07/2017 22:50

Love this thread! Am 36 weeks with ds2. The all consuming guilt of not being able to play with ds1 because of the tiredness. The endless lists to get through to be ready without impacting on DS1. The shooting pains in my thighs (which I wanted to be a sign of imminent labour but apparently is not). Terrible, uncontrollable wind and peeing three hundred times a night. The fact that I have no clothes which fit (I am buying nothing new!). I could go on. It is so good to hear others feel the same. With DS1 I had none of this! Xx

Chloris33 · 12/07/2017 02:03

Hugs to all on here. Yep, there's no getting away from it in third trimester. My other gripe is DH's struggle with tiredness linked to our toddler's early rising, which of course DH is entitled to, but if he was 34 wks pregnant & recently bereaved into the mix I think he'd be on the floor, he actually wouldn't have coped. I had a lovely fit of pregnancy rage this evening with him and stormed out of the house when dinner was ready and walked around the block in the rain! Lol, let it be over soon!

ZigAZigAhh · 12/07/2017 07:42

Sorry for your recent loss Chloris Flowers

I can relate to the pregnancy rage, I've had to stop myself picking fights with DH for absolutely no reason other than feeling like a fight Blush and everything and everyone is annoying me far more than usual...

babysurprise14 · 12/07/2017 07:53

Thanks for this thread Chloris 😀sorry for your recent loss, I can't imagine how you must be feeling, but my partner lost his Dad a few years back and I know how tough it's been, sending hugs 💐
I'm 31 weeks, tired, grumpy and can't wait to finish work now.
I should be grateful as so far I haven't had any Braxton hicks but sleeping is a nightmare I think I pee every hour 😬 this is our 1st baby and I'm terrified! Still not sure what I need to do/buy etc but I'm sure I will figure it out!!!
Not long now ladies xx

EpoxyResin · 12/07/2017 10:49

Me, me, I want to moan too!! 35 weeks tomorrow and my little boy just turned two; it's all I can do to chug along behind him, puffing like a steam train, pathetically calling after him "stop! Wait for mummy!" before collapsing on a park bench in a sweating heap. Hooray!

One week left at work and I literally DO NOT CARE any more. I can't concentrate anyway. No hospital bag packed, no baby things down from the loft, ZERO new things bought except a new mattress for the Chicco Next 2 Me, although god knows where I've put that. I'm half imagining I'll get a break when baby gets here... HAHAHAHAHA.

And Chloris, you sound like you're doing amazingly well - props to you!

CatRash · 12/07/2017 11:45

Sorry to hear about your Dad, it must make an already difficult time all the worse. I don't envy you dealing with a toddler and a 'tired' DH...

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. I have such extreme edema that my legs don't bend past 90 degrees and I'm not sure what is going on with my belly button but it feels so sore and feels like everything is trying to rip apart in there.

I'm finding it extremely painful to get up or bend over in the slightest as a result of the combination of the two. I'm on day 3 of maternity leave and already starting to feel a little bored as it's soooo bloody hard to do anything!!!

Rant over. I needed that.

3weekstogonow · 12/07/2017 11:53

37 weeks and can't WAIT until she's out now. I loved pregnancy between 16 and 30 weeks but now I'm knackered, sleepy and can't bend over. Experiencing stomach aches and cramps and finding myself needing the loo a lot, and experiencing lots of discharge. Hoping this is things moving along a bit! Not sleeping great either.

Glad to hear others are also feeling a bit moody and down but sorry you have to experience it too, the last few weeks are so hard!

Kittysparks1 · 12/07/2017 14:41

I'm going to jump On the band wagon too!
33 weeks and its been the least enjoyable experience of my life.

The latest symptom is the swelling of my hands and feet, to the extent my watch and ring don't fit and I can't wear shoes, I'd heard about swelling in pregnancy but nothing prepared me for the extent of it.

Also I had to wee in one of those tiny pots at the docs today. I can't see my blooming vagina. I can't pee in a tube without peeing on my hands. Went to tip a little bit of it away as was full to the brim but underestimated my belly and poored my warm piss over myself.

MmmMalbec · 12/07/2017 15:24

33+3 SAHM with a 2 year old. I've started just leaving all his toys on the floor because I can't be arsed to pick up all manner of crap a million times a day Angry

vickifaith · 12/07/2017 16:49

I honestly don't know how you ladies who have small ones are coping! My hat goes off to you! I am really struggling now at 36 weeks...the heat can go 'do one', I am crazy hormonal- find myself getting upset at stupid things, I'm paranoid and clumsy! I have to pee a million times a night, also getting annoyed I can't bend down to pick anything up aghhhhhh! My final gripe is people saying 'gosh your massive' 'you sure you haven't got twins in there' oh sod off.... 😂

Is anyone else staying active? I feel so lazy but most I can muster is a few hours out in the morning, a few chores then I'm done in for the day!!

Bumponhead · 13/07/2017 07:29

Yes my feet are really swollen too - they don't look it but I've got a wedding at the weekend so trying on my shoes (I've been living barefoot or in berks) and none of them fit!! Emergency trip to the shops this morning with a 2 year old in tow to find something 😩

Haha the peeing in a pot is a real knack that I've mastered now I'm on my third! (4th preg!) Definitely a trick to it 😂

FraggleRock77 · 13/07/2017 16:44

Can i join? Finally something that made me laugh Kitty! As i can't stop crying! HOW THE HELL DO YOU PEE IN A SMALL BLOODY POT WHEN YOU CANT SEE! Nearly 34 weeks. Swollen to the point of looking like I'm in heart failure! Regular headaches. Massive guilt over laying in bed most days while others look after my DS 4. Feel utterly exhausted and dramatic. Can't even begin to think i have 6 weeks to go!x
