Hi everyone, i am going to a wedding,(very posh affair)< at the end of August.
I will be 13 weeks pregnant and i'm just wondering,(as i can't remember with dd- i think i still wasn't showing), do you think i'll have a bump or just be a bit podgy???

When did you get your bump???

It really popped out at 4 months but people noticed before then, (which is how I found out I was pregnant!). It was just a bit of a pot belly (which funnily enough I still have!) I would say that you might just about be begining to show a bit. With the right outfit no-one will know but they might speculate as you won't be drinking or were you not worried about that side of things?
If you don't want people to guess at the wedding then I'd just wear a full skirt and top or something like that. I have a great black dress with a net skirt that would fool anyone if you want to borrow it. in fact most of my clothes are designed to cover a big tummy so you can borrow most of my wardrobe!

Most people say you show earlier with your second. However, I didn't really find this - I showed early with my first anyway (but I'm quite little). This time (2nd) I definitely had a little bump by 13 weeks but it was easily disguised.

honeybunny · 12/07/2004 21:26

I'm 17 weeks pregnant for the 4th time and no-one knew at the party I was at at the w/e. Oddly since Monday I've popped out and cant do things up all of a sudden. Didnt get spotted with ds1 at work until I came back from a weeks holiday at 24weeks!! I'm normally a size 8 so there wasnt much room to hide it, however I've got a long back so I think that makes a big difference to the way you carry a pg.

BTW, also meant to say that at 12 weeks or so I had to give up on wearing normal clothes with fixed (i.e. not elasticated) waistbands but as I said I'm little (short and quite slim) and showed early last time (plus I also seem to have quite big babies for my size).

Hate to say it Angeliz but by 13 weeks I was massive! Started to show very early and in fact it prompted DH to ask if I was pregnant, I thought he was mad and frantically started doing loads of sit-ups which made me rather sick...but then I was rather slim in those distant days.

Angeliz · 12/07/2004 23:23

No you all get me wrong, I WANT to be pregnant looking

(Thomcat, how sweet are you? Bless! I am gonna buy a dress and hat though- haven't worn a het for years Thankyou though)

I hope to look pregnant, then people who i haven't seen for years won't just think i'm chubby

Definitely wear maternity clothes then - one of those nice weddingy type outfits they do in BM or JoJo!

Lonelymum · 12/07/2004 23:34

With number 2, at 3 months, I remember going to the beach and being at that awkward stage where you look fat but it is not obviously pregnancy. I walked past young men with my breath held or stuck my stomach out to make it look more obvious!
With number 4, my neighbour saw me hanging out the washing (again at 3 months) and approached me afterwards to congratulate me on my pregnancy. I was a bit miffed, because I was having a lot of trouble with the pregnancy and wasn't happy for poeple to know I was pregnant. I think the cat was out of the bag after that.
So, my point is, I think you could look pregnant at 13 weeks but you might have to stick your tummy out a bit just to make the point clear!

Angeliz · 12/07/2004 23:36

Tommy, BM???

Lonelymum, i'll let you know whether i sucked in or puffed out (That's what i was thinking, i might just be at that chubby-no waist stage!)

Angeliz - BM = Blooming Marvellous, a mail order clothing company.

Lonelymum · 13/07/2004 00:02

Just another thought: if you want people to know you are pregnant, can't you just tell them? Or don't you want to detract from the bride?

highlander · 13/07/2004 00:06

I'm 29 weeks and I'm finally looking preggers if I wear tight clothes, although I can still successfully hide it under a baggy t-shirt. But I am definitely a very wierd shape!

I'm very jealous!

I'm a huge Formes fan for clothes (not that I can afford more than a t-shirt!)

eidsvold · 13/07/2004 00:46

first time - hardly showed and the way dd was n the womb I just looked fat the whole time Made sure I told people I was pregnant!! NO nice bubble belly for me.

This time - have a real bubble belly and at 17/18 weeks was in maternity clothes as nothing but two elastic waisted skirts in my wardrobe fitted me ...

A friend of mine I learnt this week was pregnant - emailed to ask how pregnant as she had said nothing when I left the UK. SO I figured it was early days ( she still looked as trim and svelte as usual)turns out she is as far along as I am!! Hardly showing just her boobs have gotten bigger... lucky her!!

eidsvold · 13/07/2004 00:48

sorry that meant my friend was 17 / 18 weeks pregnant when I left the UK and now would be about 23 weeks...

sweetkitty · 13/07/2004 00:56

At 13 weeks I just looked like I had put on a bit of weight round my stomach couldn't tell I was pregnant at all.

Needed to wear maternity clothes from about Week 18/19. Was a bridesmaid at 23 weeks and some people thought I was just fatter I just had my dress 2 sizes bigger.

gingernut · 13/07/2004 01:07

Oh, you want it to show!!! lol!

Well, as I said at 13 weeks I had a bump. It was definitely a pregnant shape, but it wasn't that noticeable unless I was just in my undies or a swimming costume (neither of which would be ideal outfits for a posh wedding I guess!).

How about visiting a BM shop and pinching one of their tie-on bumps

Tommy · 13/07/2004 01:10

Or, you could go very casual and wear one of those T shirts "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant" - then everyone would know

Angeliz · 13/07/2004 01:31

LOL at all your comments

I HOPE i'm showing, Lonelymum, i will tell the very few people i know anyway, but i just would've liked to have looked pregnant

I will let you all know what i choose, but it is VERY formal!! (Wedding party in morning suits). Will feel like such a fruad in a hat!!!!!

I bought an outfit for my friends wedding the day before I found I was pregnant, so was a bit concerned if I would still fit in them at 12wks.

The skirt was suppose to hang off my hips, instead it rested above my bump, and the top hid the top of the skirt. I had started wearing 'fat' clothes at 11 wks given the servere lack of normal clothing I could fit into.

I normally slim, so to me the bump was obvious, not so to other people.

hana · 13/07/2004 11:59

angeliz - I had this problem when I was 13 weeks pregnant ( but it wasn't a really posh one!) I wore a skirt that was one size bigger and a fitted cardigan that wrapped around like a ballerina top. We told a few people there but most didn't suspect or believe that I was. I had to stick out my belly and really only I could tell that there was some extra flesh! I would hold off on buying something until a week r two before - you just don't know how big or small you'll be. What about trying one of the wedding hire place? Don't know where you are, but there's one in Kew near the bridge??
I think I'm showing now at 17 weeks but I really have to stick my belly out to prove it!

Discodolly100 · 27/12/2006 14:41

Do I really need to buy a maternity bra or will a sport bra (non-wired) do? I'm currently a 36B at 13 weeks....
