Possible pregnancy Mirena coil...

Hi all, I'm new here, I'd love a second opinion! I've had a Mirena for a few years and the past couple of weeks noticed my sense of smell very much heightened, and feeling a little more tired than normal. Both of which I remember from my previous pregnancies.
I'm 41, have three teenagers from my 1st marriage and have been with new partner 5 months.
I took a clearblue test today (I don't have periods with the Mirena) and I think I can see a very faint line in some lights making it positive. I've also always been able to feel the iud strings but now can't at all.
Here's a pic, if anyone else thinks they see the line please let me know! Will check with nurse re position of iud this week.

I can't see a line at all on that pic. And I couldn't feel the strings on my mirena but when it was replaced recently was definitely still there.
You are talking about two weeks of symptoms....of they were due to pregnancy I think it would show much more clearly on the test

I think I can see a ghost of a line if that makes sense. Take another test first thing tomorrow if you can. Best of luck OP.

Trigger04 · 09/07/2017 18:28

I can see a line. If you have the mirena coil fitted I would contact your doctor asap. They can cause eptopic pregnancy. Good luck.

user1499620216 · 09/07/2017 18:38

Yup a ghost of a line is the way I saw it. Working it out it, today would either be 13 days since the last time it could've happened (long distance relationship so I can pinpoint it!) or 21 days.
I'll call gp in the morning. Stupidly only got one test and did it mid afternoon today so will have to get another and do it first thing. Thanks for responses, helps reassure me I'm not seeing things!

I see a line too.

EdgeOfGlory266 · 09/07/2017 19:32

I can see a really faint line too

Writerwannabe83 · 09/07/2017 19:53

I can see the line too.

talulahbelle · 09/07/2017 19:54

It looks positive to me.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 09/07/2017 19:59

Yeah, I can see something very very faintly. Book an appt 1st thing, if you explain the situation you should be able to get in as an emergency.

user1499620216 · 09/07/2017 20:06

Gosh, I'm now beginning to think I might be pregnant. Really concerned about the chances of it not working out due to the coil :-( Will call docs first thing and try to get in tomorrow or Tues.

While it is rare for Mirena pregnancies to occur, they do happen. I had a client with one in the past. She was a GP

mayhew · 09/07/2017 20:08

It all went well for her and the baby!

user1499620216 · 09/07/2017 20:09

Ah that's good to know!

I was in the same position as you last Saturday but with the copper coil same test & same faint line. I was 8 days late for af. I had a hgc blood test on Wednesday which was 0.5 (not pregnant) and am meant to repeat it tomorrow but started spotting Friday and today am bleeding pretty bad. Negative pregnancy test today too.

So no idea what's going on with me really but I spoke to 111 who said if pain gets really bad to got to a&e but it's off & on.

call the doctors tomorrow & don't google Flowers

user1499620216 · 09/07/2017 20:34

Ah I'm sorry to hear that. Because I don't have any periods I don't have a date to know that I'm late. I have had some aches but could be the coil if it's shifted, or implantation pains. I hope it all works out for you.

Hello mate

stabbybitch · 09/07/2017 20:42

Thank you, I hope every thing goes good for you too.

user1499620216 · 10/07/2017 10:02

I spoke to the doc and he's booking me in for a scan tomorrow. Will get another pt today too and see what that says!

Glad they're moving quickly for you OP.

user1499620216 · 10/07/2017 14:22

I got a double pack of first response tests and did one, came out negative. Have got lower back pain today and really tired so I have no clue what's going on.
Be glad to have the scan tomorrow and know what's what.

I got pregnant on this

Really hope it works out for you

user1499620216 · 10/07/2017 14:33

Thank you. Did you have to have the coil removed?

OP posts:
stabbybitch · 11/07/2017 16:55

How did it go today?

Trigger04 · 11/07/2017 17:21

Hope all went well today.

user1499620216 · 11/07/2017 17:40

After two neg tests I had a scan this morning that showed the coil still in place and no pregnancy. They've taken bloods to check hormones, it could be that there was a chemical pregnancy that caused the low level positive on Sunday, who knows. Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
