Maternity dress for wedding

Hi,

Firstly if I've put this in the wrong place I'm sorry - first post on mumsnet!

Have a wedding in a couple weeks and am really struggling to find a nice dress, am 23 weeks pregnant and have tried just getting a bigger sized dress but they never fit particularly well.

Anyone have any recommendations of websites/ shops that stock a good range of wedding guest suitable dresses? At this rate I'll be going in my pyjamas Smile

I'm in a similar boat.. wedding in a few weeks at 22 weeks. I've had a couple to try from asos. I like their easy returns and they have a pretty good range!!

ew1990 · 09/07/2017 11:49

There's some lovely ones on eBay, I've been invited to a wedding when I'll be 37 weeks, still not sure about wether to go, it's an hour drive away and would panic about going into labour x

ChickenBhuna · 09/07/2017 11:50

Rockabye Rosie have some nice things , you can pick these dresses up cheaply on eBay.

Also Topshop have some dresses , as do Next. I like the quality of the make and fabrics.

I hope you find something.

Asos has good maternity dresses that would be nice for a wedding. I've got 2 weddings to go to, one when I'm 28 weeks and one when I'm 34 weeks. I'm planning on buying from asos.

I've just bought one from Seraphine's sale (well they didn't have my size on Seraphine so I ordered from John Lewis). It's maternity and nursing dress. So so soft and lots of room for growth (I have no bump at 16 weeks but wedding is at 21 weeks).
Also worth a look on Jojo Maman Bebe. Depends on your normal style. Asos, H&M and Next also have good maternity ranges.

Asos maternity range!

Ew1990 our hospital is an hour away from home so you should be ok with a wedding. You'll be on high alert for symptoms anyway so will probably be in the car on way to the hospital sooner than you would be if you were at home.

ew1990 · 09/07/2017 11:58

@ScotsLamb yes that's true, I'm only worrying coz the hospital is a 2 minute drive from my house didn't think about what would happen if the hospital was an hour away, thank you

Website Tiffany Rose has beautiful stuff. Maybe look at one you can wear again and change accessories to dress up or down. X

Thanks everyone Smile Have ordered a couple from ASOS so hopefully one of them suits when they arrive! X

If what you've ordered doesn't work out then I highly recommend Isabella Oliver - v pricey but I just search only the sale selection and buy things in colours / styles I wouldn't normally consider! The fit is amazing and they last the whole pregnancy. I have 5 weddings this year while pregnant (5!!) so bought 2 dresses in the sale that I can dress down or wear for work but also jazz up for a wedding, rather than spending loads on preggy party dresses. I have worn both loads and only had 1 of the weddings so far!

I'm in exactly the same situation and I ordered a dress from Debenhams online. They have quite a nice range of maternity clothes. As others have said, ASOS is definitely a good one though!

user1498435203 · 09/07/2017 19:01

Hiya, I bought this dress from Amazon

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01G8GX5T2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21

and wore it to two weddings. It is comfortable and the belt can be worn above the bump like the lady in the review photo. I received numerous compliments and felt good in this dress.

Lemonicelolly1 · 09/07/2017 19:17

I honestly thought it would have been easy to find a nice dress until I started looking, I suppose the good thing with it being summer is lots of lovely maxi dresses Smile @user1498435203 that dress is lovely, would never believe it was that price!

Thanks everyone Smile x

I wore this one when I was about 35 wks (so a bit further along than you) - although i wore it with black tights as was a December wedding! It was mamalicious from the next website.

@Oliack1417 that's lovely Smile
My next dilemma will be shoes! I've been so paranoid about heels but dp is 6 foot 3 so I look tiny without them! x

So relieved to have found this thread! I have a wedding to attend at the end of September and I will be 28 weeks into my twin pregnancy. Was vaguely planning to wear a curtain or something!!

Mandraki · 10/07/2017 07:34

I've got a wedding next week that I've been looking for a dress for since May! I'll be 29 weeks by the wedding, so far I've tried ASOS, Chi chi London Maternity (very pretty dresses) and boohoo. All fine, lots of choice, I am just very fussy and quite small for 28 weeks. Waiting on another chi chi London delivery this week. Hope you find something!

CatRash · 10/07/2017 08:02

Sometimes you can just get away with a bigger size - depends on the fit of the dress. I found those that fit under the boobs and then skim the rest of the body tend to fit regardless of bump size.

I went to a wedding at the weekend at over 37 weeks and just wore a non-maternity maxi dress in a bigger size - added bonus was that I could wear trainers on my very swollen feet too because no one could see them!!

Lemonicelolly1 · 10/07/2017 08:16

@Mandraki I'm quite fussy too, I've bought Chi Chi London dresses before pregnancy and been really happy with them, I just didn't feel like they had a great selection of maternity dresses but I hope the one you've ordered suits you they are usually really good quality Smile

@CatRash I did try a few bigger sized dresses but to be honest it was in Coast and Ted Baker and they are probably smaller fitting anyway so maybe should have tried a couple of sizes bigger lol x
