Bit of fun - unexpected pregnancy symptoms?

Let's face it - there's the pregnancy symptoms which everyone knows (and asks you about) like morning sickness, swollen feet, cravings, stretch marks etc.

But what pregnancy symptoms / side effects have surprised you??

For me I'd say...

Skin tags - wtf are they all about? I must have had about 5 new ones since getting pregnant - two of which are on my neck and although tiny I feel them daily when moisturising.

Snoring - my DH reliably informs me that I snore (loudly) most nights. He's too scared nice to wake me up or prod me though but has acquired a variety of nicknames for me like Mrs Snorey-Head! Sometimes I even get the odd snore while awake which is embarrassing Blush

Dribbling - I dribble a lot more in my sleep that I ever used to...maybe this is because of the snoring though?? I am basically really gross to sleep next too!

So what's your surprising symptoms?

I dribbled a lot as well. My feet also grew by half a size and stayed that way permanently.

Dede124 · 09/07/2017 18:02

I second the skin tags @CatRash had a few appear around my neck area... hope they go after pregnancy :/

Cuppaqueen · 09/07/2017 18:11

I had a runny nose constantly from earliest weeks of pregnancy right through to giving birth. Had to blow my nose multiple times a day. It was just clear fluid not snot, but a nuisance!

laurelstar · 09/07/2017 19:38

A strange metallic taste in my mouth!

cakesandphotos · 09/07/2017 19:40

Pregnancy farts are off the chart! Or maybe that's just me Grin

PastysPrincess · 09/07/2017 19:41

Brushing my back teeth made me heave; managed to make myself sick a couple of times. As soon as I had my DS it went away.

kingfishergreen · 09/07/2017 19:44

Yes, the skin tags!

I have about a zillion teeny ones all on my neck and all from during my pregnancy with DD. They haven't disappeared since her birth (8 months ago), but they have stopped appearing.

I might see if they can be seared off.

EyeDrops · 09/07/2017 19:46

Heightened sense of smell. For a week or so before I realised I was pregnant, I was going bonkers that my flat stank to high hell but DH insisted it didn't. I found it overpowering but no one else seemed to agree with me... then I found out it was a pregnancy thing!

Ashhead24 · 09/07/2017 19:47

Nosebleeds. Also curly hair went straightish. Is only coming back in properly curly now 6 months after stopping feeding.

SummerMummy88 · 09/07/2017 19:50

Dark patches of skin, I look like I can't blend my foundation properly, it looks awful.

leannejade · 09/07/2017 19:50

Awful cramping, like THE WORST I've ever felt when I was around 4-5 weeks. It would come and go throughout the day and I would have to take myself off to the toilets at work for a little cry about it.

Also the inability to be stood up for long periods of time without feeling like I was going to pass out is one I didn't expect!

OhWifey · 09/07/2017 19:51

FARTING!

And not being able to sneeze with an even half full bladder and expect to keep dry knickers.

sprite25 · 09/07/2017 19:52

A horribly sweaty bum crack Blush although that might be down to it being summer...

DaisyChainsForever · 09/07/2017 19:53

Weird brown marks on my face. I'm quite freckley so they look like massive over grown freckles!!

Purplelipgloss · 09/07/2017 19:55

Severe lack of sex drive - as in 5 months lack of sex drive.

teenytinypontypine · 09/07/2017 19:58

Fecking coldsores.

THirdEeye · 09/07/2017 20:00

My ears pop!

Not all the time, but if there is a change in air pressure, if l change floors (from ground to first), if I change from an enclosed space to a more open space inside a building, if one window is open In car (and we are driving at speed)......just so weird.

I've also noticed that my hair growth has slowed.

SydneyCarton · 09/07/2017 20:01

Oh God yes to pregnancy farts- silent but deadly in my case with both babies Grin

2ducks2ducklings · 09/07/2017 20:04

I second the not being able to stand for long periods of time. Or short periods of time. I always really try not to be the sort of woman who always says ' oh I couldn't possibly do that, I'm pregnant' and once I was over the worst of the crippling sickness I have pretty much been doing everything I would have 23 weeks ago. However standing literally takes my breath away. Which brings me to another wonderful side effect, breathlessness. I feel like my lungs don't fill properly. It's exhausting.
I also can't do Mondays anymore! What's all that about?!! I'm in bed at 7.30 every Monday evening, utterly exhausted.
I'm just waiting patiently for this 'glow' I keep hearing about.

Youvegotafriendinme · 09/07/2017 20:11

I couldn't clean my teeth for nearly the whole 8 months. I could just about stomach doing the front ones. I had to just use mouth wash and lots of gum/mints. The minute he was born I could clean them again!

rhinitis, from about 6/8 weeks my nose was full of scabs and bleeding and sore and didn't go away till about 30 weeks. Turns of it's one of the least common pregnancy side effects!

adagio · 09/07/2017 20:12

Omg the farts. Horrific.
Plus dribbling, snoring, worst ever hay fever, heartburn -I think I slept sat up for half of both pregnancies just to try and reduce it a bit. No morning sickness though and 2 perfect children so I count myself lucky Grin

koalab · 09/07/2017 20:17

Losing control of my bladder while being sick. That made morning sickness a whole lot worse. I had to scope out appropriate places to be sick and wee at the same time. Bizarrely my pelvic floor was in good nick and I've nit had any issues since.

Also rhinitis and snoring. The snoring hasn't gone away yet either (7 months postpartum).

anxietybuilding · 09/07/2017 20:19

I honestly got a face fungus. Started where a cold sore would start but ended up bigger than a 50p. Had to be treated with thrush cream! So yeah, I had face thrush!
Nose bleeds.
Dizzy and lightheaded all the time.
Insomnia.

Butimstillhungry · 09/07/2017 20:28

Snoring, dribbling, farting and a spotty bum. I was SO attractive.

BrollyDolly · 09/07/2017 20:28

OP mine are the same as yours! The bloody skin tags around my neck drive me mad! I've got loads! Also had some come up on my nipples and boobs Hmm
I was a snorer anyway but I have been waking myself up with how loud I am and also waking myself up with the amount of dribbling that is going on. All a bit strange but I will not complain as everything else has been relatively straight forward so far Smile
