Morning. My first baby (little boy) was due on 7.7.17 so now 40+2. Surprisingly I'm really chilled out about it and totally not bothered with old wives tales of how to bring on labour. Stretch and sweep on Wednesday if still no action, and the latest my hospital will let me go is 40+10 so will be induced on 17.7.17 if it comes to it. Just looking for ladies in the same boat x

Me! Was due on the 6th but nothing seems to be happening... go between quite enjoying having time to myself and wondering how much longer this can go on for...

Littlereen · 09/07/2017 18:43

Me! Was also due 6/7/17. Had a sweep on Thursday and have another tomorrow afternoon. IOL booked for t+12 if nothing happens in the mean time.

Johno85 · 09/07/2017 19:15

Hi ladies. Today I have walked, swam and bounced. Still nada!!

rhodes2015 · 09/07/2017 19:28

Me too! Was due on 4.7.17.
No signs, a bit of BH & faint period pain but no show or anything!
I had an "attempted" sweep on Wednesday..... it went on for ages and she couldn't reach. I told her to stop. She's offered me another on Tuesday but I'm going to decline so if nothing happens before I'll be induced the following week.

johno I haven't done any of the old wives tales, had a bounce on my ball and a walk but that's it. I'm pretty chilled out too minus one epic meltdown yesterday morning, not actually sure what triggered it but I had a bath and I was fine after Grin
DH was like Hmm though!

BringMeTea123 · 10/07/2017 08:03

Hi @Johno85

I went 10 days before being induced back in October. Oh god it drove me mad! lol. I didn't think I was going to go overdue. I know exactly how you feel! Just try to enjoy your last few days (as hard as it is lol). 17.7.17 would be a pretty cool birthday! Lol x

Johno85 · 10/07/2017 08:09

Oh rhodes you sound like a right trooper. Sweep does not sound pleasent. I'm toying with the idea of convincing DH to dtd to see if that helps Wink

bringmetea I have a sneaky suspicion I'll be joining you at 10 days Hmm

At least at 10 days and induction you have the date and more time to prepare! I'm actually quite glad looking back as it gave me time the night before to make sure I had what I needed and we could go and get loads of snacks and drinks etc. So not the worst thing in the world Smile.

It was such a quick process in my experience anyway. But I think he was ready to come anyway but the time I went in. Went in at 8am Friday morning and he was born 7am the Saturday morning. Hang in there Hun x

rhodes2015 · 10/07/2017 11:50

johno I have asked my dh the same, he politely declined though Blush
May ask again in a few days Grin
Agree with bringmetea 17.7.17 would be a great date to be born on!

Feel like I've kind of excepted I'm having an induction now which is for the best I think, because I've stopped over analysing every little twinge now.

Johno85 · 10/07/2017 17:46

Rhodes I think you're right; maybe I should accept the fate of the induction. A few twinges today but nothing concrete.

Hi @johno85 I'm going to be one of those annoying people messaging you "any movement yet"? Grin
..... I had some epic period pains for about an hour and a half yesterday but then nothing! Got my hopes up again.
Hoping something has moved along for you!

BringMeTea123 · 13/07/2017 08:29

@rhodes2015 oh no that sounds horrible that you got your hopes up and no baby! Do you know what you're having? X

Johno85 · 13/07/2017 20:49

Evening. Had the sweep and woke up thinking this is it at 3am. Cramping on and off all day but nothing else!

Can I join the club? I am 41+6 today. Had a sweep yesterday and got excited when I had a show and lots and lots of baby movement last night. Now nothing, baby movements back to normal. I have an induction scheduled next week which I'm a bit gutted about - I really wanted a spontaneous birth!

BringMeTea123 · 14/07/2017 07:40

@MenorcaSunrise you're nearly 2 weeks overdue? And you're not being induced until next week? That's surprising as usually the max they let you go over is 10-12 days. But poor you must be so fed up and uncomfortable. I know how you feel! Induction isn't the worst scenario in the world, trust me. Baby will soon be here.

@Johno85 oh no! What a tease. Fingers crossed for you x

Johno85 · 14/07/2017 08:47

HiMenorca wow you have some patience. Yeh I'm surprised they're not inducing you sooner. I'm the same as you; thought everything was kicking off after my sweep and then today absolutely nothing! I've resigned myself to the induction on Monday but like you really wanted it natural. Saying that if I go in Monday and they offer to leave it another 2 days I'm not sure what I'll do?!

The midwives and doctors were keen to assure me that I didn't have to do anything I didn't want to, but they did insist I speak to a consultant to ensure I understood the risk of waiting too long. I have to admit to being heavily influenced by friends who would have waited to 43w, and hypnobirthing group. Baby is still fine and I am low risk, so we'll go for additional monitoring tmw and see how we feel - we may choose to move the induction up. I was feeling a bit upset about it all and had a little cry this morning but even if I knew in advance baby was going to be late, I wouldn't plan an induction earlier than 42+1, just to give him every chance of coming out when he's ready.

rhodes2015 · 14/07/2017 12:19

@johno85
Yes! There's been movement Grin
bringmetea I had a girl (I knew before)
Woke up with period pain in waves at about 7:30, was in hospital by 11am and she was born at 17:05! They had to break my waters and she was delivered with forceps as I had lost quite a bit of blood. Did it with gas and air and pethadine but really wished I'd had asked early enough to have an epidural! Grin
She's lovely I can't stop looking at her!

Can't wait to hear about your babies and births.

BringMeTea123 · 14/07/2017 14:00

@rhodes2015 congratulations on your little girl! Well done you, I lost a lot of blood too it's so tough isn't it but amazing what your body can do! X

HJE17 · 14/07/2017 20:38

I was due the 10th. Driving me a bit nuts as my hips and pelvis are soooo sore and I can't get a good night's sleep. I keep thinking, if I'm going to be awake half the night at least give me a cute little girl to look at! :-) Trying to think of this as a holiday though, seeing friends, going for walks, watching Netflix, reading...

What's most entertaining is the conversations people start having with you at this stage, and how un-shy and desperate you become. My next door neighbour, who has a 10-month-old, was telling me about how she went into labour and then paused half-way through the conversation and remarked "I never thought I'd tell someone I've only been on a couple of walks with so much about my cervix and anus". 😂 So true though!!! My mum the other night at dinner asked "have you tried sex?" My siblings and I nearly died!!!

MenorcaSunrise · 19/07/2017 05:58

Update - baby boy is here after 42+3! We tried to wait as long as we could, ctgs every day said baby was fine, but after using a breast pump to try to get things going, my waters broke without contractions. We waited 24h before agreeing to an induction.
I so much wanted a natural birth in a birth pool using hypnobirthing, and would have waited to 43w but I didn't want to risk infection to the baby.

For the inductions the prostaglandin gel was not effective, I struggled with syntocynin, (only aromatherapy and tens were effective!) but eventually succumbed to disamorphine (did not help) and finally the epidural. The epidural was such a relief, but we found my contractions actually slowed down, and because of my waters breaking early, I couldn't wait much longer. Furthermore there was an irregularity with my baby's heart beat so the consultant advised an immediate cesarean. By then I was still so doped on diamorphine and tired from all the pain, I didn't care and just wanted my baby.

Thankfully he was born huge and healthy. It seems he turned from LOA to back to back, which may be why the contractions slowed. In the end, the consultant said baby's heart was prob fine, nothing to worry about!

So birth plan went completely out the window. I don't think I'm built for labour (in spite of what all the relaxation exercises told me!) so next time instead of suffering from indecision and pain, I will opt for a cesarean straight off! On the plus side I didn't have to consider assisted delivery, my biggest worries.

I must say, now that my beautiful boy is here, it was totally worth it Smile.

Johno85 · 23/07/2017 05:58

Menorca massive congrats on your little boy. Sounds like we both had a traumatic time. I went into labour early hours on Thursday (day before my planned induction). In a nutshell laboured for just over 24 hours as one side of my cervix wouldn't budge do started on induction drip. They also decided baby had flipped back to back and at 10cm dilated they didn't think he'd come on his own. Into theatre for forceps and Arthur was born 7lb9oz on Friday 21st july, 14 days overdue.

Episiotomy and small tear but other than that all good and glad to be back home. Good luck to those still cooking their little ones.
