I'm 16 weeks today have had a terrible headache solidly for the last 2 days, I've taken paracetamol and lots of water due to the heat but I can't shift it, it's worse when I move about or bend down too.
Is there anything I can do?

Have you had your blood pressure checked?

Monkeypuzzle32 · 07/07/2017 17:02

Hi daffo only at my midwife appointment when I was 12 weeks-my next appointment is in 2weeks

Ring midwife now just to rule out anything worrying.

daffo · 07/07/2017 17:13

Yeah I agree with pp, I'd give your midwife a call xx

I used the koolstrips. Suffered a lot about same stage and they really did help.

LiDLrichardsPistachioSack · 07/07/2017 20:08

I had this with both pregnancies, 15-18 weeks I had killer headaches. Then they went away until after birth! Drinking a shitload of water (I mean LOADS) all day seemed to help as well.
(My bp and overall health was totally fine)

Strokethefurrywall · 07/07/2017 20:22

I had the same with my second pregnancy, around 16-18 weeks and nothing would touch it, not gallons of water or paracetamol. You know what fixed it? When my OBGYN told me to drink caffeine, either a coffee or a coke.

I didn't have a headache again, it was amazing. OBGYN advised that often it was due to the blood volume increasing quickly as the baby grows and it takes a while for the pressure to level out. The caffeine helps constrict the blood vessels.

I advised a colleague of mine of the same when she was suffering horrendous headaches whilst pregnant, she skipped up to me the next day and said she felt amazing.

Do try it, no harm done if it doesn't work, but at least it might be an easy fix.

thanks for replying everyone
SaS2014 I think I will get some of those-cant hurt can it?

LiDLrichardsPistachioSack good to know-there seems to be a point where water gets hard to drink!
Strokethefurrywall I'll try the coke-it may be partly because Im avoiding caffeine as advised-Im a tea-a-holic normally!

Definitely try a coke - let us know how you get on, hopefully you're feeling better soon.

gooseygander88 · 07/07/2017 21:13

I had horrible headaches at the end of trimester 1-into 2! For about a week I admit that would be a couple weeks behind you but it did ease off after a week! I tried taking paracetamol and resting where possible etc! If your worried contact your midwife, GP etc!

Monkeypuzzle32 · 07/07/2017 21:15

Im drinking a coke now-thankfully we had some in as we rarely drink it! fingers crossed!

It worked!! Thanks so much for that recommendation -my head was so painful and now it's gone-I've massively cut down the caffeine and with this heat maybe I should drink a coke a day!

Strokethefurrywall · 08/07/2017 16:06

Yay!! So glad you're feeling better, I tell you it was a revelation when I did it!
I just went back to drinking a couple mugs of coffee a day and I was right as rain.

So pleased it's worked for you, enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Monkeypuzzle32 · 08/07/2017 17:16

I feel like a different person! I have gone back to normal tea for the time being-at least whilst it's so hot. Thanks again
