Hello,
My partner and I found out we were expecting at 8 weeks. I had recently come off the pill and hadn't had my period, We did two pregnancy test that had come back negative so we thought nothing of it. A few weeks later I started being sick a lot so we did two more and these came back positive. Sick with worry I booked an early private scan since I had enjoyed a few alcoholic nights out and I'd been eating things they recommend you don't eat. At the scan everything came back okay and there was a heartbeat there. However recently all my symptoms have disappeared, I still get slight nausea in the morning at breakfast time and insomnia at night but apart from that I feel nothing, I don't even feel pregnant. I've had some mild cramps since we found out but my friends with babies say that's normal and it's just my body making room for my baby. I haven't met my midwife yet as we had a prebooked holiday so I don't see her till Monday 10th and my 12 week scan is the next again week, am I just being paranoid or is there a reason to be worried? I'm just concerned there will be no heartbeat at this scan.

My sickness and other symptoms were really bad at the beginning. I wouldn't say they ever went completely but it did calm down after a few weeks. Some days it would then be terrible, and other days it would be like I wasn't even pregnant.

As the baby grows, your whole body changes so it's usual to get some cramps/feel your body moving around. It's just making way for a baby to grow properly.

If you're really worried ring a doctor. I know you said you're not seeing your midwife yet, but it's best to be checked by someone if you're worried about anything.

Good luck with everything and congratulations. I hope everything goes well.

What do you think "feeling pregnant" should feel like? If you're having symptoms like nausea etc and haven't had any bleeding then you are still pregnant and just need to wait until the scan/appointment. Everybody is worried they're be no heartbeat at the first scan unfortunately, the waiting is difficult but it just has to be done unless you book a private scan sooner.

@chowmeinchick Thank you for the advice! I phoned the doctor and they said my symptoms should be settling Down at this stage and they aren't concerned so I guess I'll just have to wait it out for my 12 week scan!

It's okay. If the doctor doesn't seem to be worried I'm sure everything is fine. Make sure you come back and let us know how it goes! Xx
