Colposcopy while pregnant

I'm 15 weeks and attended the maternal & fetal assessment unit on Monday for spotting. All was good with baby, heard the heartbeat but on cervical examination, doc said she could see a lesion on my cervix that was likely to be the cause. She mentioned possible cervical ectropian but has also written CIN 1/2 on my notes. Just got a letter through with a colposcopy appointment for 3 weeks time. Currently having a bit of a feeling sorry for myself moment! I know it's most likely harmless and will be a case of going back after baby comes but also of course can't help thinking the worst! Hoping that the fact I had a clear smear in October is a good sign. Just wondering whether anyone else has been referred to colposcopy while pregnant and can talk me out of my current freak out?

Yeah, I had this. Similar to you- went into day assessment unit for pains and on examination they found 'abnormalities' that they said were probably cervical erosion but they referred me to be on the safe side, especially since I had missed my last smear due to being pregnant. Went for the colposcopy, it took all of 10 minutes and the consultant said there was nothing that wasn't completely normal in pregnancy, and I should just go for a smear once baby was here. You've had a recent clear smear, I'm sure you will be fine.

Good to hear all was well for you! I was quite enjoying a couple of weeks being more relaxed after scan and entering 2nd trimester. Annoyed I've found something else to worry about already!

I really don't think there is anything for you to worry about. It's common during pregnancy, the consultant said to me. And the most common cause of bleeding/spotting in pregnancy.

I had a polyp removed a few weeks back as I was bleeding, it's stopped now so that must of been the reason! Didn't hurt or anything though!

I had a colposcopy due to an abnormal smear when I was 5 months pregnant. Didn't know I was a consultant didn't even notice.
