I'm 8 weeks with my first pregnancy (IVF and years of TTC)

I may have been exposed to the Parvovirus this week and last week, as my friends 2 year old has slapped Cheek syndrome - which those of you who don't know, Cos cause miscarriage and fetal problems in pregnant women. I had my blood tests taken yesterday and I am now awaiting the results.

This morning I have woken up and I have vaginal cramps which I can only describe as someone stabbing me up the vagina with a blunt instrument Blush im also having brown discharge.

Do i have anything to be worried about? Cos I am going out of my mind here

It may not be anything to do with the parvovirus, but brown discharge suggests old blood. Old blood not necessarily a bad sign but worth being seen at EPU. I'd go in for a scan.

slutty My EPU wouldn't let me go in to have my bloods done as if i have the virus I need to stay away from other pregnant women

Do they know you're having brown discharge?

cherryontopp · 06/07/2017 09:35

No I only mentioned the exposure to the virus but I assume discharge or no discharge, they still wouldn't want me down there if I'm a risk to other women.

That changes things though. I'd ring again and get their advice.

GlitteryFluff · 06/07/2017 09:55

Yes I'd phone again and explain.

If it's any conciliation @cherryontopp I have had the same vaginal cramps as you described and brown discharge..
I ended up at a private clinic yesterday for a scan and all was fine, baby bouncing and waving away! I'm 9 weeks so only slightly further ahead but have exactly as you described since last week..
I'm a teacher so god only knows what sort of things I've exposed myself to but cramping and brown discharge can be normal but I totally agree that you need your mind putting at rest one way or another!
Fingers crossed for you xxx

Thanks for the replies. I think the midwife line is getting sick of hearing my voice GrinI think it's due to the parvo virus that I'm most nervous over and i hear the results can take a while to get back. I'm on edge all the time Sad

I had cramps and brown discharge at 8 weeks and just had my 20 week scan so baby is fine.

I'd say if the cramps persist and you really do feel nervous phone 111 tell them as well. My GP surgery is really busy so it was quicker for me. Might be easier for you too.

Good luck
