Feels like AF is coming? Is this normal?

Hi there, wise MNers.

I have just got a BFP today but I only took a test because I have felt for a few days like my period was about to arrive: sore-ish boobs, faintly heavy feeling in low pelvis which may be teensy cramps. But no AF has arrived today (due) and usually I have a day or so of spotting beforehand and that hasn't come either.

I know I am being a bit crazy, because I have seen the lines on the pee stick, but I can't shake the feeling that AF is about to arrive any moment.

Can anyone relate to this? Or am I just crackers?!

On a separate note, I now feel rather guilty after getting supremely pissed at Green Day in Hyde Park this weekend

Yes,I was convinced I wasn't pregnant as I had loads of symptoms plus raging PMT

It was normal for me both times. Pelvic congestion my Gp said, as more blood flows to that area to get things growing (I think......) feels very like af is coming.

I shared three bottles of wine with a friend over about an hour and half, three days before my bfp. Toddler appears unscathed!

have you dont any other tests? i cant see colour in the second line so id be a bit wary.

Having said that i always spot before a period too so when i have been pregnant kind of guessed because this didnt happen. It definitely feels like af is due any minute the first few weeks. Very crampy.

Its crap cos the symptoms are so similar for both things. Good luck though.

Thanks all - ginger I think the photo just isn't good, it was definitely pink irl just not as dark as the control line. It wasn't fmu either.

I'll probably do another one in the morning.

Yes me too. In fact I knew I was pregnant with DC2 before taking a test because I felt just like my period was about to start but without it actually happening!

Ha ha jmscp knicker-checking! I have a feeling I am going to be doing that a lot over the next few days til the idea sinks in!

I got my bfp at 3-4 weeks and definitely felt like AF was due for about a week after. Lots of wiping and checking!

Mild cramping is apparently a normal symptom of pregnancy. I only know because I googled it when I had that a couple of days ago.

Don't worry about greenday, think of it as your last blow-out.

I remember 2 days before I got my BFP being at work and having the worst period cramps ever, I was convinced I was going to come on that day and it was going to be a really heavy period.

Yep! I still have tampax in my bag just in case! The knicker watching finally seems to be easing off at 8+4 though so I might be able to take them out soon

And the main reason I was pretty convinced I was pregnant was because I'd never experienced a hangover so intense as the one I'd had the weekend before I tested - hoping the wine managed to bypass bubba - so you're not alone on that one!

So early on you wouldn't have to worry about the booze - baby is still a cluster of cells and not connected to placenta. I was partying pretty hard the first 6 weeks of this pregnancy as we weren't trying and it was a bit of a shock! I was 8 days late and kept thinking AF was coming which is why I carried on as normal.

I was at Green Day too this weekend, at 12 weeks... was not the same having to limit myself at 2 beers - good you got a final blow out!

Anyway back to you OP, I had the same thing, I was assured they were stretching pains and quite normal

Did'nt stop me checking my knickers several times a day and wiping my fango a lot.

I had this a year ago. I was convinced my period was on its way, went out and got drunk and bought some tampons. Those tampons have never been opened and my dd will be 17 weeks old on Thursday

I'm 13 weeks and I've only just got over the knicker checking. Always felt like period was coming.

I was also incredibly hungover the day I found out I was pregnant with DS and he's currently working his way through a ham sandwich singing incy wincy spider. He seems ok 😂

Yes! Up until I was about 13 weeks I felt like AF was coming every month.

About a week before a done a test, I had light brown spotting for about a day accompanied with some cramping. I thought it was my period but nope I was pregnant

Well you have all been very reassuring, but not as reassuring as this second test

I guess I'll just have to get used to the idea of feeling the need to check my pants every half hour or so for the next few weeks!

I also had the same test as you and my GP told me it was negative. 🙄 might post him a picture of my scan 😂
