Bleeding 4+4

So I found out I was pregnant last Sunday after trying for 10 months. Excited is an understatement....
Anyway fast forward to yesterday morning, I woke up bleeding. I screamed from the bathroom for my other half who was still flat out in bed. I rang 111 because I didn't know what to do. They got me an emergency appointment and I went straight off the the hospital. He said I was only spotting and he couldn't say either way and booked me in for a scan when I will be 6 weeks pregnant and gave me some symptoms to look out for in case it was ectopic and sent me home.
The bleeding got heavier throughout the day. But not as heavy as a period, although it was fresh red blood.
Today. The bleeding has slowed right down. And there's only a tiny bit of brown discharge when I wipe.
Please someone give me some positive information! Crossing everything here (especially my legs) that all will be ok

Sorry that you're going through this Flowers I know from experience how difficult the next couple of weeks will be for you.

In terms of positive stories, I had a big bleed at around 8 weeks, absolutely convinced it was the end of the road (as was the midwife at the EPU when I called for advice based on heaviness of bleed). I was told I'd have to wait a week for a scan. The bleeding stopped the day after it started - much like you describe. A week later everything at the scan was fine. I'm now 24 weeks along, no cause was ever determined for the bleed.

I really hope you have a good outcome too, here for hand holding when needed. Googling was the absolute worst thing I did whilst waiting and caused me ridiculous amounts of stress so if you're currently googling - stop!

Anatidae · 02/07/2017 21:16

It's difficult when you have to wait - there's really nothing you can do until you have a scan - hoping you see a heartbeat and all is well.
Definitely step away from google and hope all goes well for you.
I had some bleeding around week 10 with my first - no cause ever determined and he was fine.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Have you tried taking another pregnancy test? It may be worth seeing over the next few days if you still have a positive result - without being crass, at such an early stage, the result may change after such a bleed (I had a 3 day bleed at 6 weeks last year and had a BFN on day 3).

SSF8 · 02/07/2017 22:17

Thanks everyone.
I don't dare do a test. Going to ring midwives tomorrow and see what they say. I thought they might have taken my blood but they didn't. So want to check they don't want me to get them done. Need to see a doctor anyway for a sick note because I've been advised to stay off work until the scan and take it easy (I won't say no to 2 weeks off work!)

I have actually googled a lot. I know I shouldn't, but i just can't help it!
Although google has made be feel more positive about it, because it says how common bleeding is, and the fact I've only bled for about 5 hours and just spotting the rest of the time, and it only lasted 2 days in total. I am trying to think positive!

Hey @SSF8 hi i had 3mc & pg again. I been for few early scans & one day be4 my 12w scan i had a gush of bleeding & i thought OMG ITS OVER. I did same shouted my husband who was asleep as it was 4am didnt know what to do just pray & cried SO MUCH. Not again but there was no pain or clots so waited anything to happen. 2 hours later still bleeding blood but thats all called e&e & they said if there is no pain or clots then dont need to come to the hospital weird but thats it. Bleeding stoped by evening but left me worried & with a brown blood\discharge. I been for scan and all was fine no reason for bleeding now im 14w still hb strong & all good been 2w still got brown bleed & have to use pad when go out as sometime just spoting & someday heavy. Midwifes keep saying NOTHING to worry about as its an old blood.

Sweetyboo · 03/07/2017 00:46

@SSF8 you should go to walk in midwife & check the HB that will give your peace of mind till scan or book an early scan with ur midwife.

Sorry you're going through this OP Flowers

PPs are right in that hard as it is, all you can do is look out for any worrying symptoms and wait and see.

However, some women do get breakthrough bleeding, especially around the time their period would be due - this happens with my mum for a couple of months with her first and she has only ever had healthy pregnancies.

I also had bleeding with this (my second) pregnancy, assumed something awful must be happening and everything was absolutely fine. So bleeding in the first trimester can definitely end in healthy pregnancies - there are just so many hormonal changes happening at that time. Good luck

SSF8 · 03/07/2017 08:09

Is it not too early for heartbeat? I think that's why I've got to wait till next Tuesday as that's when I will be 6 weeks.
I'm only 4+6 today.
Bleeding has stopped completely now. So only lasted 2 days in total. Going to give midwives a call this morning anyway. Just to tell them what's going on and see what they want me to do

With my first I had two huge bleeds around 9 weeks, rushed to hospital in ambulance the first time it was so heavy. Proper red blood too and I thought it would be over but baby was fine. I bled for about 5 weeks in total. No cause ever found and she's now a healthily 2.5 yo.

I'm now 14 weeks with number 2 and had some bleeding around 5 weeks for 3-4 days. Not lots but enough to need more than a panty liner iuswim. It quite normal to bleed a little around the time you're period would be due. Some people bleed monthly throughout their pregnancy.

If there's no pain, that's a really good sign. The waiting is horrible. Flowers for you and good luck for your scan.

Sweetyboo · 03/07/2017 08:21

@SSF8 yes i didnt realise you that early. Yes heart beat & scan is only usefull in 6weeks as i went for scan at 5 weeks there was only a sac nothing else thats not a help. So yes you need you wait but if bleeding is brown no worrys thats what midwifes telling me

Sweetyboo · 03/07/2017 08:22

@SilverLinings2014 im 14w too😌

SSF8 · 03/07/2017 08:40

Going to ring this morning.
I didn't find out I was pregnant with my first until I was 18 weeks (I was only 16, and don't think I wanted to believe it) so it's like my first pregnancy because I don't know what to expect at all. And it was nearly 10 year ago!

Hiya
Hope you are ok. I had a small bit of bleeding at the very early stage 4-5 weeks, it carries on fine, heartbeat and everything and at 11 weeks baby died. (Found out at 12 week scan) there was a heartbeat at 10w.

This pregnancy I've had intermittent bleeding from 4w-10w, it stopped and now at 30w started again.

SSF8 · 03/07/2017 10:43

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I am praying that my scan goes well next week. Can't stop going to the toilet today. Not because I need a wee... just because I'm paranoid checking for blood!
