Pre-eclampsia?!

Afternoon!!

Just looking for a bit of advice (or a dose of man up) as I'm driving myself mad. Ended up in MAU last weekend due to slight bleed, all fine though. Had my anti-D injection whilst there. Also took my BP and tested urine.

Urine showed slight protein and my blood pressure measured high so they took bloods to check for pre-eclampsia. Heard nothing so assumed all okay.

Ended up going back a few days later to retake bloods as my anti D was rejected from the lab for whatever reason and they checked my BP again which was 137/83, they didn't seem concerned, didn't even mention it but I know from my job that is slightly high. Anyway this weekend I've suffered badly with quite annoying headaches and now swollen hands and feet? Especially obvious today even though I've had a very lazy Sunday. Not feeling myself at all, just generally under the weather.

Question is am I symptom spotting now, as obviously the bloods were ok and the midwives weren't concerned or should I ring back? Dreading being one of those women who ring for nothing and waste time Blush

How many weeks are you? That bp is very normal during pregnancy especially later on. Sudden swelling should be checked out, but based on bp alone I wouldn't think pre eclampsia (I had it).

If in doubt, ring. You won't be wasting anyone's time. Just because bloods were OK a week ago doesn't mean they are now so don't feel like you can't call again.

I hope you get checked out and feel better soon.

I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy, although I was overdue when it was detected. I would ring back and mention the swelling and the headaches - the 'under the weather' symptom was my only one until they took my BP and tested my urine.

Thanks for the replies! I'll ring my midwife tomorrow for advice. So paranoid I'm being a worrier!

Foggymist I'm 27 weeks and a day, glad to hear it's normal!!
