8 months and still in disbelief I am going to have a baby

I find this thought very strange that I will have my own baby and need to care about it. Especially being single makes it a bit like imaginary friend I had when I was a kid when I felt lonely. Anyone else felt this way?

Smile congratulations. Your wonderful child will be very real and you will be a great Mum.

I felt exactly like this with my first! It was almost like it was just a concept and I couldn't get my head around reality. In fact the first pictures after birth I just look gobsmacked and completely amazed.

I'm now 38/40 with dc2 and although it still doesn't seem real, it's easier to visualise what's ahead.

But good luck, you're going to be awesome!

You sound like me although I wasn't single. I got very emotional at 10cm when I started pushing.. It was at that point it hit me I was going to have a baby!! Don't think it had really registered until then even though it was very planned and very wanted and had been kicking me for months. It was a happy emotional although I'm sure the midwife probably thought I was freaking outSmile

Yes. I never made the leap between pregnancy and actual baby any time I've been pregnant, and I've had 3 Grin

SelfObsessionHoney · 01/07/2017 03:23

Totally get you.
I've got 9 day old DS asleep on my chest just now and it still doesn't seem real.

Yes I am 38 weeks and still in disbelief that in the next few weeks il have a baby.

Youvegotafriendinme · 01/07/2017 03:37

My DS is 7 months old and I still have many moments of 'wow your mine and I made you and I can't believe your here'
Being pregnant was surreal to me.

CleverNever · 01/07/2017 03:43

You are not alone. My first words when ds1 was born (planned pregnancy) were "Oh my god, its a baby!". I still look at both my children sometimes and think, " Huh! You're my children! I'm a mother... How did this happen?!" Ds1 is 7!!

I didn't believe it until he was in my arms and even then I didn't believe it because he didn't look like the picture of him I had in my head lol Smile It took a while.

DoubleCarrick · 01/07/2017 04:18

My first words when he was put on my chest were "oh my god, it's a baby". I think made even more surreal by the fact that I was having him at home.

The midwife came and examined me and said "right, you're 7cm, you can get in the pool now." I said, "what, really? Already? Is this actually happening?" I don't know what I'd expected considering I'd been in labour for 31 hours by that point, I don't know why I was surprised!

It's mad isn't it. Still makes me laugh to this day Smile

Scaredycat2016 · 01/07/2017 07:58

I'm 36 weeks, also single, also a first time mum and also in complete denial. You're not alone! It's a very bizarre feeling, I almost feel like I'm playing along with a big joke! Xx

Dede124 · 01/07/2017 09:16

I find it surreal that I'm going to actually have a real life baby. I can't imagine it at all. It's crazy I'm going to be a Mum Confused

Emma1609 · 01/07/2017 14:23

Yes I'm 37 weeks with dc2 and literally can't believe that I'm going to be having a baby! Haven't organised anything yet!

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 01/07/2017 14:30

All throughout my pregnancy I never truly believed that there was a baby inside me. When I went into labour I just kept thinking "fuck it's actually happening" like it was a big Jeremy Beadle style joke Grin

I still look at my DS now and can't believe I made a human and he was inside me!
