Sharp pain when finishing urination

The pain goes right across my lower stomach (more low pelvic area) just as urination finishes.

I'm finding I go from not needing to go to absolutely bursting in minutes and most of the time there is very little to come out!

Tonight I'm lying in bed and a similar pain has started in a specific location, left pelvic area. It feels like someone is pinching my muscle randomly... Occasionally it is set off by exhaling but not always.

I home test for UTIs and nothing is showing up. I'm 18+ weeks pregnant. I do suffer constipation occasionally but I find the cramps with this are more dull, period like cramps that come in waves. This feels different but I know pregnancy can change the usual symptoms for things.

Has anyone else suffered from this? Is it worth a call to out of hours? It really is quite painful when it's "nipped"

Sounds like a UTI, I would get a GP appointment in the morning.

I tested negative for UTI. I get them frequently due to medical problem so I also home test x

I would see a doctor, it does sound like a UTI even though you tested negative.

Scan the kidneys and check for hydronephrosis ....
I had this and ended up with a nephrostomy it was excruciating

I get regular checks on the whole urinary tract so I'll wait until then.

Thanks all x

It does sound like a UTI - I wouldn't wait. They can travel up to the kidneys very quickly and cause real harm.

Yeah I know, I have stuff here that I'm allowed to self treat with so I can always start that if it gets worse.

I honestly have so many problems in that area and I'm really not convinced that's where the pain is from. It's a complete different pain, and in different location. My bladder pain is usually more to the side and a little lower.

I'm not sure if it's related but I'm weeing constantly and I always get a dull ache afterwards. It happened in my last pregnancy too. No UTI's here either. I think we me it just has to do with the constantly toilet trips. My Dr wasn't concerned. Your kidneys work overtime during pregnancy and it maybe that because you already have issue in that area, it's causing you a bit of aggro. I wouldn't definitely have a chat with your MW or Dr as you've said you have problems with that area anyway. Always best to double check. Hope you feel better soon x

I sometimes get round ligament pain after urinating. It's is almost like my bladder is pushing my uterus up a bit and when I empty my bladder my uterus drops and pulls on the ligaments. I get sudden urges to go aswell when I get Braxton Hicks but these usually only start after 20 weeks

Today I've had no pain at all, but I have made sure to go to loo all the time to make sure I'm not holding it too long. Xx
