Severe cramping/hard pain at 20 weeks?

Just woken up about 15 minutes ago.

The pain is excruciating. It feels like extremely bad period pain but all the right hand side - Lower abdomen.

My lower belly is all tight.

If I press right hand side of tummy gently, I want to yelp!

This is normal ligament stretching, isn't it? The pain won't go away.

Any ideas? I feel a fool but it feels like I really need to pass a stool or something, except that I don't and the pain is all in the right hand side of tummy and is like period pain if that makes sense? Blush

Very different feeling to trapped wind

Right hand side if I was standing in front of you or your right hand side?

RHS if I was looking- could very well be constipation. It really is extremely painful. I had been to the toilet the same day but still ended up in hospital with it

You RHS- appendix? Do you have a fever, feel sick?

Personally, I would contact your maternity ward and speak with them, if they believe it's something else they will see you.

I hope your ok Flowers

As pp, ring the unit. They'll have seen it all before and will be able to advise

tootsieglitterballs · 25/06/2017 07:20

Agree with @Youvegotafriendinme - I had terrible constipation a few weeks ago, despite having gone during the day. I woke up in absolute agony and genuinely thought I was loosing baby.

Saying that though, i would call your MAC anyway as they will be able to advise you.

Sorry that's not really any help, but didn't want to read and run!

Hi ladies, thank you for the replies

I managed to get to sleep somehow and have woken up exactly the same. Is this normal? Can pregnancy give you some unknown hellish constipation never yet known to man?

No where near my maternity unit or local midwife. I'm away in a different area of the country. What to do?

I think you need to do something lovely, could you start with calling 111 perhaps, are you actually constipated? Do you feel ill apart from the pain?

dontpokethebear · 25/06/2017 09:13

You can go to any local maternity unit, as long as you have your notes.

spacefrog35 · 25/06/2017 09:14

I'd head to the nearest a&e personally. If you're in pain then go and get it checked Flowers

Knightly · 25/06/2017 09:30

I don't have my notes with me Blush

I don't feel constipated, no. It just feels like severe period pains.

I feel sick but that's not reliable since I'm usually quite sick anyway with this pregnancy

Severe constipation can have very similar characteristics to labour. Severe pain in the abdomen, sickness, low back pain. When I was rushed to hospital they made me do a pregnancy test as they thought I could be in labour.

You need to go to either a local maternity unit or walk in/urgent care. Find the number of the local maternity unit and speak with them. There's no point siting there in pain worrying now is there?

Knightly · 25/06/2017 09:57

It has completely subsided now Blush

So glad I didn't embarrass myself and go anywhere, thinking I was bloody in labour! I had a hot bath and it literally just went.

What could it of been? Have not passed anything from bowls/passed wind BlushBlush
