Subchronic Hematoma

I was wondering if any other ladies had experienced this? I started bleeding around 5-6 weeks, I went to my EPU and they discovered and embryo with a heartbeat and explained the bleeding was due to a hematoma of the uterus. The bleeding carried on for 7-8 days and then eased up which was a relief!

I then noticed last night when I wiped more blood :( the EPU said due to the size of the Hematoma to expect a bit of bleeding, it's so worrying after miscarrying previously and having to wait until our 12 week scan to find out what's going on in there x

Yes, I had one or more? of these. I had two massive bleeds, the first at 7 weeks and the second at 14. I continued to spot until 20 weeks. I thought I had miscarried when I had the bleeds as there was a copious amount of blood and clots (10x a period) but luckily all was fine. I think the statistics are fairly favourable so try not to worry too much. Even though that is hard! Good luck!

Thank you! That's reassuring to know, the EPU did say it was common but I know any bleeding can be scary :-( did you get any cramping with your bleeds? X

No, no cramping as far as I can remember. But, I am 6 weeks pregnant now and I notice I have slight cramping from time to time, so if you are having slight cramping too it might just be the normal pregnancy variety. Uterus strectching etc. Is your subchorionic haematoma small? If it's not under the placenta, I think it isn't much of a risk. From what I remember anyway!

I had a subchorionic haematoma too - bled at 6 weeks then on and off until 16 weeks. I don't remember cramping, just bright red blood when I wiped. I didn't realise it was common and found it horrible and scary. Hang on in there.

Thank you for the reassuring messages, mine is like brown discharge every time I go to the toilet only when I wipe and some spotting on my pad. We see the midwife on Friday so I'm hoping she might refer us for an earlier scan before the 12 weeks x

I had this - big bleeds at 8, 10, 13 weeks, bleeding on wiping in between and cramping each time. It was terribly scary and I went to the EPU for a scan each time. It stopped after 14 weeks and everything has been fine since. Good luck OP, get as much reassurance as you need by either asking for scans or going to the EPU xx

Thanks @MrsCrabtree I'm going to ring the EPU tomorrow as I've been having cramping throughout the day which is worrying me x
