Slimming World While Pregnant

Hi everybody,

I recently found out that I am pregnant. The week before, I had just re-joined Slimming World after a couple of failed attempts Sad

So my questions are:

Is anybody else continuing with SW while they are pregnant? I have been told that it is a healthy plan while pregnant.

Has anybody successfully lost/maintained weight through pregnancy by following the SW plan?

(My BMI is 29.9 so I have plenty of chunk on me)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

xxxxxx

Hi! No advice but I've just joined slimming world, I am 12 weeks pregnant and my bmi was 31.8 a few weeks ago and I've already put on 10lb. Would love to lose some weight but will be happy with damage limitation!!

I've been at sw for years. I lost nearly 6 stone. But I've not been able to stick to it during preggoness unfortunately. I know others who have and have got back to target within 8 weeks. It's depressing packing the pounds back on but I'm gonna be straight back on it when the baby's out.

Don't make grand plans to do anything. I was on SW as my BMI was 31.5
I then got hyperemesis and in 6 weeks I lost a stone as my diet was hula hoops and er hula hoops. My BMI was 29 at booking. Don't put any pressure on yourself. 29.9 is fine.

I started SW at 18 weeks pregnant. My BMI was 38. 29.something you are absolutely not a 'chunk' or if you are I'm a hippo.

It is do able but to be honest I've not been sticking to the plan. My cravings just haven't fit into the plan at all lol. Egg mayo sandwiches, strawberry milkshakes being the main ones.

Saying that I'm sure I would have piled on more weight than I have done had I not been trying, and had I not had the motivation of being weighed weekly so I am glad I've done it!

The midwifery service here texted to say about slimming world. Maybe you could check to see if your local hospital or MW service has a group you could join?

Congratulations grey Have a look at Slimming World online, they have a pregnancy policy and from what I remember it just says that you need to have the support of your midwife to be able to do it so it should be absolutely fine. My bmi is 31 and I'm trying to improve my diet and do a bit of exercise. Come January 18 I'll be re-joining SW.

Hey, SW consultant here! It's the only weight loss plan that's endorsed by the Royal College of Midwives, so it's totally safe to own when pregnant. I know people who've lost weight while pregnant - I myself am a target member and sticking to it as closely as I can during my pregnancy because it's a healthy way of eating, and I don't want to regain too much of the 5st 10lb I've lost!

Ultimately, it's up to you to work out if you can do it with any pregnancy symptoms you're suffering - and while you may still gain, it's also worth turning things on their head and thinking well, how much more would I have gained if I hadn't been following SW while pregnant?

You will need the support of your midwife though - there's a pregnancy booklet and form that your consultant will be able to give you. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for your advice ladies. I am at the midwifes on Thurs so I am going to discuss it with her & then discuss with my SW consultant xx
