My name is Helen and I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my first (can't believe I'm saying that Grin) and I'm due in February 18.
In a couple of weeks I have my first midwife appointment and I was wondering what to expect and if my partner could join me?

Hello!!

On my first midwife appointment we went through our medical history and some information. It may be worth your partner going in case there's any history your not aware of.

The other normal midwife appointments he doesn't really need to go to. Scans definitely though :)

It's just blood test, urine test, blood pressure, carbon monoxide test, weight, height and lots of form filling. You partner can go but it's not very exciting. They'll ask where you want to give birth too so have a look at options for hospitals and midwife led units near you.

I went alone to the first as I knew it was about an hour of forms. I checked and got his family history as they will need it.

If you other half goes, please be aware he may be asked to leave the room as they do have a duty to ask about domestic abuse. Nothing personal, just care of duty towards mum.

My OH came to the 16 week appointment as you sometimes get to hear heartbeat. Otherwise he just does scans as the appointments soon come thick and fast!
