Yes it's perfectly normal. On my first pregnancy I only hit my prepregnancy weight at 24weeks. I then gained baby weight pretty fast as I was feeling better and baby starts to really grow in size. The first 12 weeks baby is going from a speck to a bean so although you're growing placenta and amniotic fluid it's not a big weight gaining period. Also baby will take from you at your expense without leaving itself short so don't worry, it's getting plenty from you.

Hope you feel better soon.

I lost loads during the first half of my first pregnancy. Couldn't eat anything except crisps! And there was only so much of those I could manage. More than made up for it by the time DS was born! Blush

I've lost about 6kg so far due to sickness / poor appetite. I am 11 weeks and feel horrendous

I lost 17kgs in pregnancy - just never had appetite and ended up with gestational diabetes too so had to carb and sugar control.

You were overweight OP, so perhaps you're body is just naturally getting you down to a weight that is optimum for baby development at this time.

Perhaps I'm clutching at straws but i really believe that the body on pregnancy is a bloody phenomenal piece of work.

I was seriously underweight. First 12 weeks of pregnancy I put on a stone. I believe my body needed to die the baby. It needed weight, and it needed it fast. So I essentially didn't stop eating for the first three months. It then calmed down. I suspect the same will happen to you.
