Puffy feet and sore legs

Past few days I've felt like my feet are puffy, but they don't look too bad in fact barely noticeable. Today the tops of my legs kinda ache, and feel bruised.

I've no high blood pressure.

Is this just pregnancy swelling... It is hot so I'm guessing that contributes. Any remedies?

I've been feeling the same- my legs ached so much last night it felt like I'd been running.
My feet have swollen I'm sure as my flip flops felt snug but nothing looks noticeable.
No real advice as mine still feel sore but I dunked my feet in cool water for 15 mins or so this aft then elevated- it felt better!

I sat with mine up (above heart height) and almost instantly they cooled and felt loosed so less swollen. Took them down and can feel like building already. Think the trick might be to keep them cool xx

Sit with your feet up and a cold damp towel draped over them to suck out the heat.

GrumpySusan · 19/06/2017 18:38

I haven't had mine above heart height actually, just up, so I will give that a try when I get them out of the paddling pool! Maybe it will prolong the effects. Will be glad when it cools down a bit tomorrow!

I'm only approaching 18w too, this summer is going to swell me up so much 😵

I wish I had a paddle pool, currently eyeing up the mop bucket wondering how much ice I could fit in it, not that it would help my legs though....

Can you stretch out outside, with your feet raised, and a wet muslin or pillowcase draped over them? If there's no breeze, have you a minion to fan your legs?

You may also need to go for a walk once it's cooled off a bit. If your body isn't draining fluid well from your legs, then exercise may help to do that. It certainly did for me - if I did t go for a walk twice a day, even only 20-30mins, my legs swelled atrociously. If I went out for a hobble on my grotesque legs, within 10mins I was tightening my shoes and walking normally.

GrumpySusan · 19/06/2017 18:54

I'm 27w and starting to feel heavy. Wondering if that is contributing to the swelling.
Years ago I bought a mini paddling pool (avon?) and it's brilliant for this. Inflatable so doesn't take up any space when not in use. EBay/amazon prime might have something? Probably be a good investment!

Unfortunately I don't have a garden.

I've resorted to a bucket with ice and water... And it's bliss. It's a deep bucket so it's half way up my calves, so my ankles are covered.

I tend to find they feel better when walking then puff up say 30-40 minutes after I've stopped.

Anyone tried compression socks?

OnNaturesCourse · 19/06/2017 19:28

Go swimming?

OnNaturesCourse · 19/06/2017 19:53

I can't swim well, and my skin hates it so that's a no at the moment xxx

Not tried the socks - they could be a good idea though, whentheyre heat calms down.
Oh no you don't need a garden! I mean really mini, I'm rubbish at links but I'll try..

Oh Grumpy that looks very handy! Save me using the mop bucket.

I've just ordered compression leggings and tights... Hopefully the weather cools so I can use them. I'm worried that if I'm feeling pressure in my legs I'm likely to get varicose veins soon.

It's been so good! And just rolls up and lives in cosmetics drawer when not in use!
Trying the raised legs trick at the mo. Got a cold flannel over my feet too (thanks Joffrey) and feeling good so far.

OnNaturesCourse · 19/06/2017 22:01

It's so nice to get that little bit of relief, isn't it?

I've had my feet raised pretty much since I took them out the bucket and they are cool and feeling better.

Legs are still a bit unhappy but I can deal with that.
