Midwife didn't listen to heartbeat

...at 28 week appointment. Is this normal in other areas too?

In my last pregnancy they didn't listen at 16 weeks which I understand as it often can't be found and cause unnecessary worry.

I can feel baby moving lots but I've had a few other slightly worrying symptoms and I'm surprised it still wasn't checked.

Mine actually said something to that effect during mine - that they didn't usually check but she did it anyway to reassure the mum. Not sure what the protocol is.

Where I live they refuse to listen for heartbeats in midwife appointments at any stage of pregnancy. My midwife said movements from 24 weeks are a much more reliable indicator of well-being :)

^Same.

It's so weird how things differ so much from trust to trust. My midwife has listened to the hearbeat at every appt since 18 weeks.

My midwife said they have changed the rules recently and now don't routinely listen until 36 weeks.

But she does it anyway because she knows people like it.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like it varies a lot then. Just wish there was a standard timeline of what happened when so I'd know what to expect!
